A bunch of players choose to play in the MLS against players who have either come over for a retirement check, or players that make up these 'lesser sides of CONCACAF', and you blame Klinsmann because they now play down to the level of the competition they face on a weekly basis

He was criticized at Bayern, but was hailed for the work he did developing the German national team, laying the foundations for Low and receiving rave reviews for their performance in 06'. Classic revisionism

Ye apart from Kahn nobody was critical at the time. What they said after the fact was irrelevant because they're obviously going to give any and all credit to the guy who now decides whether they are called up or not.

but i've seen many places that it was Low who was tactically and strategically the mastermind behind that performance and although klinnsman was in charge, their success wasn't a direct result of his coaching.

Any American sports experience? Really? I went to champions league games when I lived in Marseille and the atmosphere was not better than that of an LSU football game. Neither was the game in the Eredivisie that I saw. Or the Fulham game that I saw. Even a good LSU basketball game was a better experience. I had a Scottish truck driver tell me that he went to a Portland game and said it was the best atmosphere he had ever experienced. "So European feeling." He even bought a jersey

it would frick us pretty hard IMO. this country does go nuts over the world cup, which is amazing given how little we seem to give a frick about any of our other games. world cup qualifiers with HUGE implications like the two here against guatemala are essentially ignored. but everyone watches the world cup.
missing a world cup means basically 8 years of no soccer for our general public. that's like half a generation of talent. it could be disastrous.

Being in Tiger Stadium in gear to see TJ Yeldon run in that screen pass was a much more electric atmosphere than the Barcelona vs. A.S Roma game last summer
