Pull an upset against Netherlands on Saturday and we may be favored in the Quarterfinal. Opponent would be Poland or Australia

Congratulations England on winning the group. Good luck with Senegal in the heat and France in the quarters!

On paper,

A possible Spain Brazil matchup in the Quarters as well. Delicious.

So far it looks like the England side of the bracket looks a bit tougher.

England, France, likely Portugal and Germany if they beat Costa Rica and Japan doesn't win

As long as Mexico doesn't advance, I don't care who wins

yeah the context was missing from what I quoted in response to. They said if Poland ties they win group which would be great for US. It would be a great prize for beating Netherlands getting Poland/Australia in Quarterfinal.

And what Boat said, it’s actually possible even we get a Saudi Arabia-Australia R16 matchup which would be fricking fantastic! Added bonus of Mexico finishing last in their group. Mexico sucks, hopefully Saudi Arabia wins and Poland manages to tie Argentina to set it up.

MEX/KSA deserves its own thread since it would possibly mean the Fighting Donovans going home, and it merits intense relishing.

Group C Scenarios

Poland:
-Win Group with Win
-Win Group with Draw & MEX Win or Draw
-Advance with Loss with MEX Win so long as combined GD in the results is <4 goals
-Eliminated with Loss & KSA Win
-Eliminated with Loss & MEX Win where GD change is 4+ goals

Argentina:
-Win Group with Win so long as KSA doesn't beat MEX by 3 more goals than ARG beats POL
-Advances with Draw & KSA/MEX Draw
-Eliminated with Loss

Saudi Arabia:
-Win Group with Win & POL/ARG Draw
-Win Group with Win & ARG Win so long as KSA beats MEX by 2+ more goals than ARG beats POL
-Advance with Win or Draw & POL Win
-Eliminated with Loss
-Eliminated with Draw & ARG Win

Mexico:
-Already Eliminated as Potential Group Winner
-Advance with Win & POL Win
-Advance with Win & ARG Win
-Advance with Win & POL/ARG Draw if MEX beats KSA by 3+ goals (if shutout KSA) or 4+ goals (if KSA scores a goal)
-Eliminated with Draw or Loss

I THINK that's all the scenarios

Simple Group C scenarios to advance today…

Poland (4 pts) win/draw vs Argentina

ARG (3) win OR a draw and a KSA-MEX draw

KSA (3) win OR a draw and a Poland win

MEX (1) win and a Poland win OR win by 4+ goals

Lots of #RootForChaos possibilities in Group C, including...

Poland loses 2-0 to Argentina

Mexico wins 2-0 vs Saudi Arabia

Poland & Mexico Tied for 2nd on pts, GD, goals, H2H

Team conduct score: Poland leads with 4 yellows to Mexico's 6

If still tied, drawing of lots!

Why was France's goal disallowed? Not sure i understood that. I had it on mute though so i didn't hear the commentary.

offsides

France's goal scorer was offsides at the moment of the pass, even though a Tunisian player popped the pass into the air and by the time that happened the French player was back onside
