offsides
yeah i mean i saw him signal offside but..
quote:
France's goal scorer was offsides at the moment of the pass, even though a Tunisian player popped the pass into the air and by the time that happened the French player was back onside
this isnt offside. the tunisian player heading the ball is the next moment of play and griezmann is well on by then. i really dont see how they deemed griezmann affected play. he wasnt anywhere near the defender. that defender is going up for that header regardless.
when they initially went to VAR i thought they were checking for a foul in the box, but instead the called offside. when they did that i was like huh.

has Iran made the flight over the Persian Gulf back to their home country yet?
if so... can anyone confirm that they're still alive
losing to the US yesterday to fail to make it out of the group stage might be a crime punishable by death in Iran

What if Poland and Argentina draw?

Poland would be through and Argentina would have to sweat out the KSA/MEX result
ETA: Argentina would be begging for a KSA/MEX draw... otherwise Argentina would be eliminated

I found this article's explanation interesting LINK:
quote:
His presence was deemed to have interfered in the Tunisia defender’s action. The defender was interpreted to have tracked back to cover Griezmann, which ultimately helped the Atletico Madrid player convert the chance.
If that's true, then at what point can the offensive player, who was previously offside, make a play on the ball after returning from the offside position?

The call is correct. The French attacking player is tussling with the defender
quote:
The following criteria should be used, as appropriate, as indicators that a player was in control of the ball and, as a result, ‘deliberately played’ the ball:
- The ball travelled from distance and the player had a clear view of it
- The ball was not moving quickly
- The direction of the ball was not unexpected
- The player had time to coordinate their body movement, i.e. it was not a case of instinctive stretching or jumping, or a movement that achieved limited contact/control
- A ball moving on the ground is easier to play than a ball in the air
Therefore, they ruled that the defender wasn't able to make a coordinated controlled contact of the ball so it didn't meet the criteria for a deliberate play

i mean if thats what he judged then i guess. but it seemed to me he wasnt doing that at all, as he had another france player, who was onside, right up against him. he was dealing with the cross due to that defender, not griezmann (imo anyway).
To call that a clear and obvious error and overturn the goal, well i guess i just disagree.

im actually familiar with all that. none of that really applies for me. he got up and got the head on the ball that he wanted to.

The call was offsides. The other player who "tussled" with the defender was not in the offsides position and was not why the call was made.
The more I look at it, the less I think this should have been called. If you watch the replay, none of the defenders near the offside player react to his actions at all. One defender has his back to him, and the other is looking up at the ball and trying to make a play on the ball.

Would be glorious to be the only CONCACAF team to progress

I wish Argentina went back to playing the first part of their national anthem without the words and the crowd just say "Ohhh ohhhh ohhhhhh." shite was lit.

Canada's already eliminated heading into its final group stage match
Mexico needs a win and help right now to get out of the group stage
Costa Rica is basically win over (a very, very desperate) Germany tomorrow & in... they can get through with a draw with Germany but need Spain to beat Japan for that to happen

What a weak arse shot from Poland on that chance
Posted on 11/30/22 at 1:06 pm to SUB
there was basically nothing in the "tussle" either. he was just trying to get a foul call there. french player barely touched him.
