He means that it’s not supposed to be used in slow motion for a potential red card. Slow motion is only for point of contact. Full speed should be used to determine severity. Anything slowed down can look bad.

What is there to not understand that fifa had a rule that said how VAR was to be used and the ref didn’t follow it? They clearly state you can’t use slow motion or still pictures to determine a red card.

I don't understand this?
Good lord. How many times does it have to be said?

You cant review those plays in slow motion or with still shots. Has to be full speed with context, which is how it was used correctly last night with England.

Almost every single VAR check ends up in slow motion replay, if that's going to be applied we would have overturned things every week.
I agree that it makes everything look worse and I hate slow motion but it's a very convenient time to enact this ruling.

People have suggested them forfeiting the game. I don't think even the Germany-lite chocolatiers are that cuckish.

It’s a strange hill for posters to die on that VAR wasn’t used incorrectly

You don't get to make up facts. The dude wasn't hurt at all.

If you've ever played a proper game of football, someone standing on your ankle accident or not for as long as Balogan did hurts. It doesn't have to snap to hurt.

If this World Cup was anywhere else, Balogun would be getting booed mercilessly every time he touched the ball.
Thankfully, this is on home soil and this is going to make the US fan support even more loud in their support.

quote:It's arguably not even a cardable situation to begin with. It's only a potential red under the "serious foul play" section, but that necessitates a "challenge" or "tackle". The BIH player went through his back to play the ball, knocking him off balance, which caused him to stumble and try and place his foot down to regain his balance. Balogun certainly wasn't tackling at that point and wasn't even the one challenging.
I don't understand this? Balogan stands on his ankle and hurts him, it is absolutely correct for VAR to look at it.
It was a BS red, made worse by the VAR official only using stills and slow motion, and only showing the step and not the contact that preceded it.
It's hilarious that Europeans are just like "Oh well, random unjustified multi-game suspensions are just part of the game!" and get irrationally angry when someone actually tries to rectify a wrong.

I guess we're just ignoring Malik Tillman getting trodden on and bleeding through his sock before his free kick IN THE SAME GAME. Not even so much as a foul as memory serves, much less a card.

If Dzeko's intentional attempt to injure Tyler Adams isn't card worthy, then in the context of this game, Balogan's certainly isn't.
In any other game I wouldn't argue with it being a yellow, but this ref and VAR assistant set a precedent in this game by completely ignoring the Dzeko misconduct.

They basically have Stockholm syndrome with some of the red card and PK rules that soccer has.

They complain about FIFA all the time, but god forbid someone actually do something about it instead of just lying down and taking it like a cuck.
