I think Jurgy is calling him a forward because he's lazy and doesn't play any type of defense. Therefore,he is a forward, not a mid.

We're talking about Donovan here, not Dempsey. Try to keep up.

Yeah. Irony there is that when we go back to a 4-2-3-1, Dempsey will be a midfielder that doesn't play any defense and is lazy instead of a striker that doesn't play defense and is lazy.

That goal almost makes me sad. Unparalleled finishing to put it where the goalie has no chance. Everyone else would have kept it on the ground.

Sorry man, after watching the first Road to Brazil, I was thinking that was Jurgy was implying. I figured once you lower your work rate, the defense would be the first to go. That's my bad.

Do you honestly think Dempsey gives a better work rate than Donovan?

I think Donovan works a lot harder. Like i said, I thought that was what Jurgy was talking about. I like Donovan,I'm not the one who booted him.

Dempsey can be so good, but I don't know if I've ever seen a player able to just disappear from the game while playing in the middle like Demps can.

How Jurgy can't see that LD is a better option than Davis, Bedoya, Green at midfield...hell, even Wondo was a forward is beyond me.

This may not be a popular opinion, but I would start Donovan over Dempsey. Dempsey is lazy, plays better for his club, and disappears 90% of the game. Give me the guy who is the polar opposite.

I would start both but if I had to pick one it would be landon. I don't like they way that Dempsey plays at all.

Me too. Based on yesterday, I would have subbed Donovan in for Davis and brought in Johannsson off the bench for Dempsey.

But he had that awesome meg!!!

I'm willing to listen to arguments that Bedoya and Zusi could/should start ahead of Donovan.

If we're playing two forwards up top, I'm willing to listen to an argument for Wondolowski (or Johannsson) - though I think we're better in a 4-5-1 with Donovan (and Dempsey) playing off of Altidore.

I think the past two games have shown that there is no reasonable argument to be made for the inclusion of Davis and Green (and Yedlin) at the cost of Donovan.

but but, JK had LD listed as a forward blah blah. When has LD ever been considered a forward? He has always been an attacking mid or outside mid. Green is way in over his head. Davis was hot garbage as a wide mid and Turkey was playing long ball after long ball to his side, thus leaving Chandler holding his pecker trying to guard two guys.

To me Bedoya at least puts in effort especially on the defensive end, but he really does nothing creative or exciting on offense.

Green is on the squad cause he was guaranteed a spot to Brazil. His mom all but said so in her interview before the games yesterday. If he wasn't guaranteed a spot to Brazil, he was at least guaranteed a spot in the 30.

It really doesn't bother me that much that Jurgen is taking a risk for a guy who could potentially be a game changer. I know we don't want to sucked into the Freddy Adu hype but Freddy went pro way too early. Green has been in a top youth system for years and will continue to improve most likely.

That being said, we could have taken Green and Donovan and left Davis at home.
