We scored two goals and had a ton of chances.
Landon wouldn't help the defense, and he wouldn't turn the offense into something that can score at will against Germany.
In 2010, Landon was in his prime and we barely got out of a weak-arse group. Lots had to change for us to have a shot to get out of this group. Jurgen evidently didn't think Landon fit in with what he wanted to do. It's not about Davis or Green or Yedlin. It's about Landon.

This is what makes the WC the absolute best sporting event in the world.
Then again, in this age of immediate information and the profusion of players playing all over the globe on a club level, it´s losing that ´wow, didn´t see that coming´ factor.

I don't, I think we match up poorly against their speedy guys in midfield. The Ayew brothers are great, and while Boateng isn't dynamic, he is what we wish Jones could be.
Then there's Gyan in attack, we couldn't stop him last time, either.
I had high hopes for Chandler but am not seeing it. Their strengths are too much, and we lack the skill and speed to make their weaknesses glare.

It is a terrible system. I am sure fans from Holland and Chile agree.
Teams should be seeded 1-32, and regional distinction should not be a focal point.

I agree it's a terrible system. And it changes every four years. Don't think seeding is the answer considering how meaningless FIFA rankings are. Don't know what would be the answer to be honest.

It was an extra time goal and we had as many chances. The key to advancing out of group is 3 versus Ghana and Germany winning their first two matches. Portugal and Ghana don't have a Howard between the pipes.

I would be ok with them putting all 32 teams in one pot, draw 4 at a time and those are your groups. If you draw a tough group, tough shite. At least there's no bias.

We're the third best team in that group, but the gap between us and Ghana isn't very big. The gap between us and Portugal is not insurmountable which is why I HATE that our coach isn't putting the best side out there and used some weak arse excuses (considering him a forward, out of form etc) to cover for his petty decision making.
We have a legit chance to come out of that group in 2nd on GD, but it is so far from guaranteed. Having an experienced player who is arguably still one of our top 10 best both currently and ever in the side would have gone a long ways to increasing our chances.
I don't expect us to make it out of the group, honestly. We're not playing well at all and there's going to be a lot of media attention and possible locker room issues with the LD decision to keep the team distracted.

Who were the other friendlies against besides Turkey and the Czech Republic? I remember liking our game against Turkey more back in 2010, even though it was only one game.
Nigeria should be a good test although I won't be able to watch. Emenike is the best striker this defense will have seen.
