Then I think we just discovered why so few people in the U.S. watch soccer. Because it’s like watching a football game where the receiver can’t run past the defensive backs. Get rid of offsides > scoring increases > U.S. audience will watch. In pretty much every other sport, the entire point is to get past the defenders.

Regardless, as a non-soccer fan, this game was awesome to watch.

offsides
This is an American football rule, why are you mentioning it in a soccer thread?

This right here is part of why people in other countries hate Americans

It's so on brand for a dude like Otamendi, who looks like he works at a used tire place in Puyallup, Washington.

We should just introduce offside for the receivers in NCAA and the NFL to even things out.

Fox not even showing the trophy presentation. Pathetic.

I’m on Apple TV, laptop, and my phone and the Fox app isn’t working on any of them.

So who gets the Golden Glove?

Bono or Liv...vic (Croatia keeper)? I don't think either of these guys deserved even though Martinez balled out on penalties

Alvarez for young player? Or maybe one of younger Argentine midfielders?

Golden Ball - Messi
Boost - Mbappe

No it’s not. Think of the player passing the ball as the snap in football, then think of the last defender as the line of scrimmage, that’s all offside is.

Arguing to get rid of offside in soccer is like arguing that the receiver should be able to start the play behind the secondary at the snap.

It wouldn’t surprise me if this is the most watched non-football sporting event in America this year. Football dominates every sport in America, but soccer, especially with national teams, is already on or near par with the NBA in the US.

Yeah you can’t even blame Fox for this one. The NFL rules with an iron fist.

I can blame Fox for their app crashing right now.
