Are the older players on the FWWC team the best we have?

I only watch Women’s soccer because my daughter played for years and it took hold in our family.
Morgan, Ertz, Rapinoe, and a few other are getting old, and getting smoked by the younger players on the other teams. I respect Morgan and Ertz (frick Rapinoe), but are they just on the team for nostalgia?
Both Ertz and Morgan had kids since the last WC, and seemed to have lost a few steps (is it related to being a mother, I don’t know).
The Netherlands were running circles around them last night. We have some very good players like Rodman, Lavelle, Horan, and Smith, but they seemed handcuffed playing with these older ladies.

Rapinoe is a mascot except for penalty kicks

I thought Ertz was pretty damn good, especially as an aerial threat on set pieces.

Morgan was better last night but since the US is so many weapons up front, I wish she was getting fewer minutes. Might be a better sub.

Trinity was the one handcuffing the attack

Scuffed podcast keep saying this. Need to put Smith up top (where she plays for club as the obvious league MVP) and have Williams or Thompson on left wing. Bring Morgan on for the last 20 minutes or so. You can move Smith out wide at that point.

You bigot, women are unstoppable, how dare you think their powers have dwindled?

They are better than the men, the best team in the world.

But in all seriousness, just actual footballing nations giving a crap about womens soccer finally.

And imo the euro teams will have way more staying power than whatever they tried in the US.

because in like england, its Arsenal, city, manu, chelsea, etc.. playing each other.

not the dallas sky birds vs the atlanta peaches.

The US attack should be lead this year by 23 year old Catarina Macario, 25 year old Mallory Swanson, and 29 year old Sam Mewes. All 3 are out due to knee injuries

Throw in a hobbled Lavelle and the old gals are just about all we have right now.

Pretty sure that Smith played up top at least some last night.

A-Mo and Ertz are ok.

Rap should have been put out to pasture 2 years ago. She can do PKs but she was a liability in regular play during the Olympics.

Ertz is the only one of the bunch that still should be on the field.

Imo Morgan has been a liability and made it seem like we were playing with 10 men the other night. I’m not that high on Horan either. Yes she scored, but she’s just so slow and clunky moving out there, she needs more help in the middle and Morgan just stands around, invisible out there

Dunn has lost a step or two as well. She’s still a great defensive LB, but she lacks the same punch going forward.

The coach is going to be fired after this tournament
A lot more injuries are in play as well
Those players would have replaced some of these older players
They have no chance in this tournament

Dunn plays midfield for her club. I think she’s still fine going forward. She just gets sucked into the middle far too often defensively for my liking.

Ertz is good. Not sure she has the fitness for midfield, but that’s why we’re playing her as a CB (her old position).

Rapinoe doesn’t really play anymore. Also coming back from injury.

Morgan’s been below average. Has some good layoffs but not strong enough in hold up play for my liking.

I thought the subs were pretty easy last game.

Thompson on for Rodman with about 30 mins left. Williams on for Morgan with about 20/25 mins left and move Smith up top. Vlatko decided to do nothing.
