So my loved one is already dead and I should give up rights after the fact? WTF?
Posted on 8/8/19 at 10:37 am to Covingtontiger77
100% wouldnt change.
Because I’d want ownership of mine to go hunt the SOB down.
If we’re being hypothetical.

You could just as easily post "let's say your loved one is murdered by an illegal immigrant. Discuss your stance on illegal immigration after."
This is precisely what we should NOT do. You are suggesting that we should governed by emotion rather than reason, which can lead to dreadful consequences. Whatever your views on gun control are, they should be informed by careful consideration of such matters and the degree of harm you seek to remedy, how efficacious the proposed remedy is likely to be, the reduction in liberty that would be occasioned by the restriction, and perhaps other matters (e.g., political viability and constitutionality). Just "doing something" may make some people feel better but it's not the way to govern.

If I lost someone because of a shooting I would blame the gunman not the device of his hatred.

I'd be militant in making sure the rest of my loved ones were armed, all the time, everywhere.

No. Experience is the best teacher, a person and their opinions are formed by real life experiences. My stance on homosexuality changed a bit when I had a close family member announce he was gay.
Nearly every response in this thread includes hunting down the perpetrator and killing them. Yet, history shows that this very very rarely happens. This demonstrates that until you are in certain situations, you really do not know how you will respond.
You SHOULD be self aware enough to know that a lot of your opinions are formed out of ignorance.
As great philosopher Mike Tyson said, 'everyone has a plan, until they are punched in the mouth"

Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.
I would be heart broken but put the blame where it belongs.

Interesting that with all of the downvotes its apparent that some of y’all would sacrifice a loved one for the 2nd amendment.
Does it need to be a mass shooting to be more emotionally-driven for you? My uncle was shot to death. I didn't blame the gun. I blamed the worthless lowlife who pulled the trigger.
Now frick off with your pathetic hypothetical, because it isn't a hypothetical to everyone.

No relative of mine would go to a Jason Aldean concert. So I got that going for me, which is nice.
In seriousness: let's turn this around.

There is a risk, it has been weighed. Freedom won the assessment.

Neither did the Roe v. Wade decision.

Well, considering I would need to hunt the bastards down... I would be even more of a second amendment supporter than I am now.

I want more law abiding citizens carrying guns to kill the bad guys with.

You should consider your emotions but that should not be the end of the inquiry.

Your loved one dies in a car crash. No drinking drugs or texting involved. What’s your stance on driving cars?
Posted on 8/8/19 at 1:16 pm to Upperdecker
Guy in Californina a day or two ago killed four people, including two security guards and injured a couple of more with a knife and a sword. (Notice this is the one mass killing in the last week the media is not covering.) What would gun control have done to stop that? The answer to the problem isn't gun control. The answer to the problem is people who want to kill other people control.
