And this case is one, in what? Ten thousand? A hundred thousand?

The Chinese middle-class is growing, they will need yard jockeys, house maids, beggars and food stamp recipients.

I wish the people who downvoted your post would offer up what they would do if they were in your co-worker's place.

Oh no.... who is going to hang Sheetrock now in the states?

Lazy Americans will continue to be lazy.

DACA kids are, for the most part, pursuing a higher education
The article was focused on DACA and this thread followed the same line, but I think this speaks to just a broader trend of self-deportation overall. If English speaking twenty-somethings are considering leaving the country, how many people in their 30s or 40s that have put in time up here, away from their families, will decide it's not worth the trouble and leave?
Think about the healthcare, public assistance, education, and insurance savings. We're talking tens of thousands, maybe millions of dollars in some municipalities over the next 4 years if the trend holds.

Sounds like she's making the decision to go back to "her country", aka Mexico. She doesn't feel like she belongs here anyways.
She's being forced to make the decision because people are telling her she doesn't belong here - including the GOP.
I don't think this is just her desire. She's working hard and trying to make the best of a bad situation without complaining - in other words, America needs about 100 million people like her. I'd rather have her here than millions of the lazy, do nothing, complain about everything people that populate our country who were born here.
There is so much prejudice on this board that you people can't even see that we're sending away really good people who know how to overcome obstacles and work hard. Congratulations when you're left with lazy do-nothing's who won't take advantage of the opportunities provided them, but were born here.
It's the classic "cut off your nose to spite your face" example. So stupid.

If there is a mountain obstructing your trek, determine a way to climb it. Get it done. That is the way past immigrants succeeded. It is the path to American Exceptionalism. It is a selection process inclusive of achievement rather than handout.
Difficult?
Yes.
Unfortunate that DACA parents left their children in precarious predicament?
Yes.
Insurmountable?
Not in the least.

If you're lumping the two together, you're making a mistake. Does the person in question want a work visa, or does she want citizenship?

So your point, and everyone else's point in this thread that disagrees with me is that we need to make her lose her job, move to a foreign country and wait god knows how long to come back, because of paperwork.
Someone who pays taxes, doesn't break laws, speaks fluent English, never was a drain on society, but oh wait, she didn't have the right paperwork and she wasn't lucky enough to actually be born on this continent.
That is a broken philosophy. I understand the argument that people who immigrate need to do it correctly. I really do, but there has to be some room for empathy in this situation not just cold hard logic.

It isn't logic. It's a racist perspective. I used to not believe that and would argue anyone who said it. But, enough conversations with hardened people over the past year and watching how they approach other things has convinced me. The people who won't show any mercy to people like this aren't being logical. They have real issues with brown people overall or with those different from them. It might not be all people who want her gone, but my OVERWHELMING experience tells me there's a lot of racism involved here.
Of course, people scream and yell and deny it. But, if you interact long enough, you see it.
Because it isn't about working hard or speaking English or having conservative values or anything else. It's just, "Get out!"

I don't mind putting in a speed lane for to DACA members and immigrants who actually contribute.

And there it is. I've come to love you guys constantly beating this drum, because it's actually killing the word. When everything is racist, nothing is racist.

Ding ding! In a parallel universe the "progressives" could very easily be spouting this talking point.

This is a good example of how changing incentives for illegal immigration could resolve the illegal immigration problem in a relatively short period of time. Remove the incentives and enforce current immigration law and the problem will take care of itself. Stop the handouts for legal citizens and they will be forced to fill the labor void. And no, there's nothing wrong with kids taking Summer jobs working in construction, landscaping, etc. Let the market economy do what it does; supply and demand will level the playing field.

My point is, IF SHE WANTS CITIZENSHIP, she needs to figure it out. Instead of approaching the 100m high hurdles by simply trying to cast aside any hurdles in her lane, she needs to run the race just as are her competitors.
If she doesn't want citizenship, she has a different decision path.
You seem intent on mixing the two.
