Prison? For sending out a message on a letterhead without approval? They said it was from members of the Capitol Police. They violated USCP policy obviously, but prison for that seems steep.

I'd think forging an official USCP document and releasing as the department's official position would qualify under such standards, but, then again, consider whose side he's on.

US Criminal Code sanctions personation, so 18 U.S. Code § 912 - Officer or employee of the United States may fit the bill:
