Yeah, these are the people who are fully grasping the changes of social media. Old enough to have just exited youth without it, but still young enough to relate to what's going on.

I'm a millennial with boomer parents.

Yeah that characterization is not subjective at all.
Us X gen grew up during the Reagan years. Those were great times in terms of national pride and such...we won the Cold War and our underdog U.S. Olympic hockey team beat the Russians and the economy was kicking arse.
When you grow up with that kind of experience and you see big state liberal politicians do the complete opposite of the things that gave us those good times (like Bush 1, Clinton, Bush 2 and Obama) I guess we can come off as pessimistic to the big statists.

This is the most overstated, most overused, non-problem I have ever seen.
Growing up, we had participation trophies. Guess what? No one wanted them, because it meant you didn't WIN.
I have two trophies from two years playing baseball. One season my team won their division, the other season my team finished mid-pack.
The winning season one was on the mantle. The participation trophy was in the attic. I cannot recall a single person on the team who considered the trophy anything more than an attendance "thank you". Hundreds of kids on teams that didn't win, not a single one would not have preferred winning.
Bloody hell, I'm more fiercely competitive than most older people I know. And if you doubt how competitive the next generation is, just go play Overwatch with a young kid and be losing.

If you're a dude and didn't own a Six Million Dollar Man action figure or an Evel Knevel motorcycle toy, you're a Millennial.

no you're a tweener. like i am. i was born in 1961 technically i'm a boomer. yet when i entered the post college work force, i had nothing in common with my older boomer colleagues. i identify more with gen x and in fact married a gen x'er my wife born in 1965.
my son born 1994 is a late stage millennial but shares more attributes with gen z.
the last millennial was born in 1997 that would make them 20 today the first millennial's were born in 1981. they would now be 36. do you know anybody 36 that would share anything in common with someone who's 20?
it's those last 5 years that are the tweener's. i can tell you when i was 22 i shared nothing in common with people born in 1946. my recollection of the 60's was great i watched the Vietnam war on TV every day and rooted for the good guys to win! that would be us. my first vote cast for president was ronald reagan in 1980. people born in 1946 where dope smoking long haired maggots as far as i was concerned.

I don't recall if I did or not, but certainly remember watching both.
Focused mostly on GI Joes and Transformers as a kid.

You previously posted millenials were born 80-95. GenX people are not the majority of parents to millenials.

Grew up with "participation" trophies. Can confirm that no one thought of them as "trophies" for having "won" something but more as souvenirs from the season.

I prefer to. I got one and on the first day it started leaking a red jelly-like substance from the neck joint. My parents put it up on a bookshelf and it stayed there for years.

Apparently, I would fall in this category (having been born between 1977 and 1983 - yeah, I'm old, STFU)
Ugh, no!
I'm born in 79' and I in now way consider myself a Millenial in any respect.

Awesome. We'll get a beer and complain about "kids these days" ;)

I fall into this category and I think it's an appropriate description.

Due to being in such a rural area, I largely fall into this category. I didn't have access to most social tech (cell phones, broadband internet, social media) until I was in high school.

In tee ball we weren't even allowed to keep score because it could have hurt feelings. It was truly pathetic.
Every game someone would ask coach who won. And every game was a tie.

In tee ball people don't keep score because the kids run the bases the wrong way and spend 90% of the time hitting the tee.
Do you play Street Fighter with a 4 year old, then when you win jump up and scream, "Ha loser! Suck my d***!"
No, of course not. Tee ball is about teaching fundamentals, so that they can be competitive at an age where that actually has meaning. It has nothing to do with hurt feelings.

Proud Gen Xer (1968) that identifies more with Boomers... but without the Boomer mindset of running up the National Debt through entitlements, personal debt of credit cards, spitting on our warfighters, and idolizing Democrats (HRC). They can keep owning those disasters.
