Apparently, I would fall in this category (having been born between 1977 and 1983 - yeah, I'm old, STFU).

When I first saw the title, I thought to myself, "Well, this is likely bulls***, but I'll give it a read..."

Then saw this:

quote:

Where Millennials were born and raised with technology, Xennials grew up outdoors and later grew with technological developments

And this:

quote:

Xennials are tech-savvy, having come into the technology boom in their 20s, but had a childhood free of social media

But mostly this describes me to a fault:

quote:

Professor Woodman said Xennials are a mix of the pessimistic generation X and the optimistic Millennials.

That odd bastardization of optimism and pessimism. Probably why in my youth I would bounce between Conservative and Liberal before finally figuring out I was Libertarian.

Stop trying to find a group to join.

I was born in '88 and grew up playing outside. My brother grew up in '91 and grew up playing video games. Millennials should be '90s and on.

Pretty much my exact thoughts whenever I see people dry humping their preferred political party on here, but whatever.

Witty. And no.

Unless you count my talent tree in Skyrim, then absolutely.

It's not a matter of finding a group to join, at least for most. However, to act as though the facts surrounding one's childhood have no bearing on someone strikes me as simplistic.

I was born in the mid 80's. I grew up playing outside until dark. If I wanted to call a girl, I had to call their one landline and get through her father. As I got older, I watched cell phones proliferate, then pay per use texts, then unlimited text. I had AIM as a teen, but Facebook didn't explode until I was in college, and even then for college students only.

In short, I was growing up while the world was changing at breakneck speed. That grants an interesting perspective when compared to those who were adults already when the tech revolution began and from those who grew up after and this is the only world they have ever known. Not right, wrong, better, or worse. But certainly different.

People born in the 80's are the last generation in human history to grow up playing outside. Crazy to think about.

I was born in 1989. I never liked playing outside very much, but I did swing on a swingset/tire swing like any kid.

My first video game console was the Nintendo Entertainment System. I didn't get a cell phone until the age of 12. My family didn't purchase a computer until the year 2002.

Whole lot of optimism in those Clinton years though.

'80 to '95 are millennials

I was born in 1991. I played outside a ton and I also loved video games. We had a computer when I was very young but didn't get the internet until 2001 or 2002.

Gen X made the trophies for their millennial kids. Boomers are not responsible for that lol.
