You always hear about the WWL 50,000 watt flame thrower station and people up in BFE Minnesota picking up the WWL Saints programs, and I have never been able to listen to the damn station just 70 miles up the road in Baton Rouge
I used to listen to LSU games on WWL on Saturday nights when I was a kid growing up in Kentucky. AM radio signals "skip" a bit at night as the ionosphere rises higher, so the signal carries a pretty significant distance. Two other AM stations that enjoy this wide broadcast area at night are WSB in Atlanta and KMOX in St Louis.
As for whether WWL is worth listening to anymore, I have no idea. I know that WSB in Atlanta (which was very similar to WWL in many ways regarding programming) has gone to hell since Neal Boortz retired and Rush Limbaugh left this world to broadcast from the next. If WWL has followed suit in any fashion like WSB, then I would imagine it's good only for traffic and weather these days - along with catching an LSU game at night if you can't watch it on the TV or you don't have Sirius/XM radio to listen to the game in the car.
It's a shame that these former AM giants have dwindled away and become little more than midgets with megaphones.

It definitely took a left turn when soros outfit bought it. Scoot, though mainly moderate took a left turn as well, undoubtedly because he was told to. Tommy is not awful but not good. That Ian character is full blown hyphenated beta male. Pathetic. Mike hoss doesn’t have a radio drop of blood in his voice. Saints play by play is awful. You would think someone like kenny trahan would be the voice of the saints I guess Hoss is a friend of Gayle and that’s a problem. Gayle has the saints wearing those feminine black on black jerseys. So ghey !!!!!

I listen every now and then to the top of the hour news, where they just touch on headlines, weather and traffic. I also listen to Newell every now and then and I don’t hate Mike Detillier when he’s on. Everybody else on there is insufferable, and their guests are as well. I had Tommy Tucker on at the beginning of the tariff stuff and he had 2 guests on blasting them and saying there was no way they could work. When they finished, Tucker said that they try to keep things even and had called around looking all over for “experts” who were pro tariff and they couldn’t find a single person who thought that they could work. That was the most disingenuous comment I ever heard and haven’t listened to a word he has said since. And Scoot is an absolute prick who I wouldn’t piss on if he was on fire.

I'm trying to understand what NOLA.COM did to their weather section today. That was the only reason to still visit that place. Maybe needs it's own thread. Why does the weather forecast need to be gay now too?

I have to wonder if this is part of the larger trend of regional population shifting out of New Orleans while Baton Rouge continues to grow.
Is BR not losing people to Ascension and Livingston?

I only listen to WWL for Saints pre and post game coverage. That’s even decreased significantly over the years too

The definition of “woke”is now absurdly broad for some of you guys.
What was mainstream a few years ago is now being called “woke”.

Back in the day, I'd leave Legends after a LSU night game broadcast and head home to mid-Maryland. I'd pick up WWL and Deke once I cleared the Newark Airport area and heading west on I-78. Would get a clear signal all the way home to Frederick County.

Been that way long before these two.

Other than Buddy D in the past, WWL was never known for great sports radio.
On terms of on air talent, David Tyree was about it for years in the late afternoon after Rush. Garland Robinette wasn't bad....Newell Norman is really good in dealing with local issues

Hap Glaudi, when sober, was pretty good. I agree with Newell Norman. He is the only day time host worth listening to.

Anybody who wants to listen to good conservative talk radio tune in to WABC radio, 880AM on your radio dial.

Do you live near a high voltage electrical power line?

This and the Michael Berry Show at 5 to 7 PM are the only 2 WRNO shows that are good.
Clay Travis and Buck Sexton are ok in small doses most of the time
I can't stand the way Hannity constantly interrupts whoever his guest is. Did you know he does karate?
Tommy Tucker and Scoot are both god awful. I'll only turn on Newell nowadays if there's some big local news story I want to hear about. Otherwise its just music in the truck any other time.
