Blow up the VA and the Social Security Admin and it’s a different story.
Elon is gutting federal agencies that he doesn’t even have a grip on what those agencies do for the American people. Gutting essential agencies.
How many people have been fired in each agency? My sister works for the VA, they haven't been gutted. Quit being so hyperbolic.

What a great point.
Birmingham Southern has closed and has been an institution here in this area. I can't tell you how many graduates I've known [one is a senior fellow at Meta/Facebook]. If you were raised around Birmingham, there is a good chance you visited the planetarium during sometime in your school life.
Here in Vestavia, I have a German friend/ neighbor, an instructor in art, who moved here years ago to teach at BSC. I have a young friend at church how worked there for years in security. It has been painful to watch people you know getting laid off. Not one of them, have taken to recording videos.

why are these lay offs of federal workers any different?
They aren't but because Trump did it, they receive enormous attention.

Bobby Jeendoll closed the state’s charity hospitals and my wife was laid off.

I get it, it’s difficult to lose your job due to budget cuts. I would like to know how many of you have been laid off or lost your job due to budget cuts where you worked.
The school where I work is closing at the end of the school year due to low enrollment, it is happening all over the country. My husband was laid off about 20 years ago due to the company moving headquarters out of Atlanta to Los Angeles , absolutely no way we were moving to CA, so he had to find another job.
My point is that people get laid off all over the country that don’t work in government, why are these lay offs of federal workers any different?[/quote]
Being laid off sucks and bitching about it is not "elitist". That's stupid.
They're not different. It doesn’t matter if you're a white collar office worker or a union electrician. Being laid off blows.

I can't belive people are so invested in other people getting fired. It's unreal to watch.
This board has some weird, embittered blood lust for all this.

Probably, because we pay their salary.
Most are grossly overpaid.
Most flaunt their benefits, retirement, and job security to us.
It's totally rational to laugh at them getting their commuppance
See what I mean.

Probably because many (not all) realize they cant get the pay and benefits for their "work" in the private sector that Uncle Same gave them.

I’ve been saying. This is NOVA (northern Virginia’s) version of the plant or factory closing down.
we met for drinks monday with a friend of my wife(she's in town visiting her mother) who works for the college board educational testing service (the SAT) she and her husband live in loudoun county VA. and that's exactly how they feel. it's unreal they've never faced anything like this before. their whole world is DC and what she can't fathom is how what happens in DC doesn't really effect everybody else in the country. they've put their house on the market.

They have no clue. In the real world layoffs and working your arse off to prove your worth are how it works.
Entitled fricks.

I feel for anybody getting laid off but it’s happened to most of us at some time. Not an easy thing to go through.

I got laid off a few times due to budget cuts and overhead. And I went to work and did my Job everyday. I feel for anyone that actually does their job on the daily and that happens. But I got nothing for those leaching especially on tax payer money on a unnecessary fake job/company

They have crazy PTO policy and healthcare/pension. Average fed salary is also more than 2x average private sector salary
These are no public servants, they are public thieves. Every last one of them. If you want a 6 figure job with good benefits, go work in the private sector, government is not supposed to be a cushion job

These are bloated departments with low IQ employees. We could shed 33% of them and not miss a beat and still get the same shitty service. The idea that government workers are 'essential' is laughable. These people have been stealing money for decades. Good riddance.

That is the derpiest reply. Flat out wrong from start to finish.

These people wouldn't last a month in private sector which is why they are career federal government employees which btw is nothing but a 'jobs' program for people who aren't smart enough to work in private sector. Sounds harsh but its just reality and we have many examples of this and DOGE has exposed it.
