That's just not true. I'm square in the middle class and the moving of brackets dropped me to a lower bracket by 3 % and on top of that I get a much higher child credit, meaning a higher % of my money to keep.
Now a top earner got a break from 39.6% to 37 %. That's a 2.6 % decrease.
You see, on a dollar basis, yeah the top got a bigger cut, but on a percentage basis the middle got a bigger cut.
Saying the "cuts were massively in favor of the wealthy" is just not true, its simply the sound coming from the echo chamber across the hall and passed off as truth.

So do I have this right? If we grow the deficit by spending more it is economic stimulus which is good for the middle class, but if we grow the deficit by letting the middle class keep their own money, it is harmful to the middle class?
The middle class will won't spend their own money. We know this.

I don't think it's disingenuous when Republicans billed it as a tax cut aimed at the middle class. The cuts were massively in favor of the wealthy and corporations. And I get they pay more so their whole dollar cuts would be more substantial, but nobody forced the Republicans to frame this bill as a massive tax cut for the middle class. It's a tax cut for most of them, but it's not massive.
You don't think 3500 bucks to a family making around 100K a year is a big deal? Take home is close to 70K after medical, dental, SS, medicare, state taxes, 401k. Then add on a 10% sales tax and oops...that's 63K in your pocket. Add in property tax, school supplies, damn student loans, God forbid private school if you are in a metro area like Baton Rouge, car note, soccer, baseball, dance, and a few birthdays, clothes and diapers (kids don't stop growing until like High School), shoes...fricking shoes like every 3 months, tampons, makeup, groceries, the neighbor kid selling girl scout cookies, car maintenance, gas, $$ for school lunch, I can go on and on and on.
Yeah, its a big deal.
Unless you are OT rich.

Corporations and those with alternative income types definitely got a fantastic break too, but yea, the middle class made out pretty well in this thing.

What household income are you using as a cutoff for this group?

They simply say the same thing every time someone talks about taxes.
They never actually take the time to contemplate what it actually means because honesty isn't their goal.

It can also mean rolling another 100 a month towards paying off a debt which will in turn get you out of debt faster.
True. Using debt-snowball:
$100 month--pay off bill for new dishwasher (was $25/month no interest) in one month.
Now I have an extra $125/month. Now pay off SO's large medical bill (was $187 month no interest, paid $200/month) in about two months.
Now $325/month. Pay off bills to fix electrical work and clean air ducts in house (which is around $160/month total no interest). That will take the rest of the year.

Corps and top brackets pay 90+% of total taxes so proportionately it helps the middle and lower class more. Keep trying to fool yourself by not telling the whole story though.

86% of the benefits of the bill are going to the top individual brackets and corporations. 14% are going to the lower and middle class.
The bottom 80% of income earners in this country only pay 15% of the taxes. Seems like they got an appropriate piece of the pie, no?

What is the household income of the "lower and middle class"?

It's another disingenuous argument that doesn't paint the whole picture. He probably read it elsewhere and is just parroting the talking points.
Progs are good at this until they are asked to provide facts.

Go to them and suggest you are going to pay $50 per paycheck to Trump Re-Election Campaign and see if that seems insignificant to them.

How do corporation's PAY TAXES?
HINT: they don't it is part of the cost of product.....hence, the American taxpayer pays for it.....

Or how about you tell them we are going to TAKE an extra $50 per paycheck, then watch them scream to high heaven about people starving and dying in the streets
Actually, they said that about this bill anyway and it's saving them money. Take $50 away and they may call it the apocalypse.

But these same people beleive its a burden and people can't afford to go to the DMV to get an ID made so they can vote.

astly, are Progs now all of a sudden ignoring the plight of poorer individuals? An extra $50 per paycheck may be extra groceries for your children, or keeping the water running in your house.
I can't tell if Progs are completely out of touch with working Americans or if they are so consumed by their hatred for Trump and Republicans that they cannot bring themselves to admit taking more money home with you is a good thing.

I think one of the provisions of the tax bill should have been that democratic voters must pass that $50 to republican voters.
They don’t want it, and Mrs Gou and I would get an extra $200 per pay period since we both work!
