Wonder if US vs EU was a good trade deal? Comments from EU leaders:

From the Guardian today:
European companies will take the same steps Japan automakers have. They immediately reduced their wholesale price to US importers, so the wholesalers could pay the tariff without affecting their margins or the price to the consumer. Its why inflation continues to drop even with tariffs, all while bringing home jobs and collecting 100s of billions in the process.
quote:
France’s prime minister, François Bayrou, said Europe had submitted to the US, on a “dark day” for the union.
quote:
German exporters were less enthusiastic. The powerful BDI federation of industrial groups said the accord would have “considerable negative repercussions”, while the country’s VCI chemical trade association said the accord left rates “too high”.
quote:
Ireland, one of the EU’s top exporters to the US, said on Sunday it welcomed the deal for bringing “a measure of much-needed certainty”, but that it “regrets” the baseline tariff, in a statement by its deputy prime minister, Simon Harris.
quote:
France’s minister for Europe, Benjamin Haddad, said on Monday that the agreement would provide “temporary stability … but it is unbalanced”.
quote:
The German bank Berenberg said the deal brought to an end the “crippling uncertainty” but said it was a victory for Trump.

I am curious how much a 15% trade tariff with the EU will generate…
Quick back of the napkin of the 600-700 billion to the US is about $100B annually, plus everything on top.
It is possible when this is all done that we will be looking at 250-500B initially, which could be used directly for the debt….

Which we should all by now know it won’t be.

What Europe signed was a deal for us to keep protecting them if Russia tries to move further West. No more being the world police, without being compensated for it.

Yep, the Politicians will find some other way to spend that money, that’s what they do.

I think one of Trump's goals other than getting a better deal for Americans was to box out China in the future.

agreement. The EU will commit to purchasing $750 billion in energy products. The EU will commit to investing $600+ billion in direct U.S. industries. The EU will commit to purchasing their NATO military hardware from the USA ($500+ billion likely). The EU will open up all markets to USA products without tariffs. The EU and U.S. will both carry a 15% auto tariff for imports.

Well, when you spend decades taking advantage of the U.S. as a trade partner, fairness looks like failure.

The crooks in DC will do their best to ensure this does not happen.

If we're going to have to end up doing it anyway, we may as well be paid.

And "conservatives" on here will castigate Massie for refusing to go along with that continued fiscal malfeasance. They'll call it grandstanding.

Was listening to Musk at the rollout of the Grok4 press release, and it sounds like what is coming from this extraordinary increase in Knowledge will affect our economy and culture in ways that we can hardly imagine. Elon can, and for sure informed Trump of what these profound effects will bring. That is why Trump is going all in on AI and really don't care about the Debt/Deficit now.
Trump is playing ten years out, and the whole economic table will be overturned and reordered. Competing and holding the power of AI will determine the relative prosperity of a Nation.
That is the optimistic version; Elon also said that he was somewhat "terrified" in regard to the quickness of AI's advance. And what that could mean for a flawed and inferior group of 'competing'/controlling sentient Entities. I.e., Humanity.
It's fixing to get crazy.
Side point: Listening to Beck on this subject and very soon, AI will be able to make an ENTIRE Movie, from script, to screen to market with virtually zero human input. And very fast. Looks like Hollywood's run is over.

As AI is way above my skill set this form of future in everyday use won’t be easy for over half the population for at least a generation. The powers to be have worked hard in dumbing down the society( think of democrats) and most of every urban area is heavily underemployed & incompetent for skills above chicken frying or house cleaning. Everyday life will mostly stay the same there

What he does is no different than what the admin is doing with the Epstein files.

If prices don't increase how does that bring home jobs?

It's almost like dipshits don't realize he's only one of 400+ votes. But, yeah, let's castigate him for simply not playing the game and going along with the crowd.
Just admit it, you're comfortable with all the RINOs who talk a good game during campaign season but sell you out to the highest bidder when Congress actually meets. But, yeah, those turncoats "get things done". Even if the results are horrendous...

Oh no... We get it. He's a contrarian. That's well acknowledged. But what does he ACTUALLY get done? Besides talking shite and pointing fingers? Nothing.
