So he must be on the phone constantly considering who occupies the WH today....

with the excessive body count of the ukraine dead, milley should have advised they sue for peace.

You are very generous with other people's land. The Ukrainians made the decision to fight, and their resolve has remained.

If you consider the political context of these moments, was it reasonable for Milley to have reached out to China to ensure them we had no intention of attacking China and that the Government was still in the hands of the elected leadership?

Considering the dysfunction and chaos that was occurring behind the scenes between Trump and his military advisers in the last few months of Trump's presidency (and at other times throughout his 4 years) I agree with you that history will not judge his actions in an unfavorable light. Plenty has been written on the subject. If you want an overview of Trumps relationship with his generals there is a New Yorker article that outlines it fairly well. LINK

Mark Esper's book "A Sacred Oath" goes in to the same subject.

This board will of course say that none of what is written can be trusted b/c the New Yorker is pure left wing propaganda (and yea you can see some bias from the writer at times) those quoted in the article are just deep state actors...guys like Esper Milley, Pompeo, Kelly, Mattis, Bolton etc.. are just trying to destroy Trump....but you can judge for yourself.

Trump didn’t know everyone was night and paid for.

The more this unfolds, I am losing faith in any military brass and “ex-military DC Congress sewer members”

The MIC promises them Lobbyist positions and/or board-ship with Defense Contractors.

Just imagine being promised of being a Millionaire when you’re a precious soldier making Pennie’s on the dollar your entire career.

That’s what’s happening to our Military members too to bottom, they are bought off.

I always said “our military will not take the Gov’t back when the SHTF”, but now I don’t feel as confident, they are becoming turncoats as well.

The entire system needs a cleansing!!!

Mensa, I’m saying that even if I accept that article at face value it doesn’t help Milley much.

Understanding the context of his actions wont help the way folks evaluate it? Sorry maybe I mis understood you.

I will be as clear as possible. I read the article, much of it I'd heard or read before. What I'm telling you is that even if I accept "his side" of things, he still comes off looking like a treasonous little shite that should have faced a court martial. I don't see how any military person can read that and think any of the parties, Trump included, come out looking good.

I can all but guarantee you that if a subordinate had actively tried to undermine Milley or Mattis or any of the rest mentioned, because that subordinate thought they knew best and they thought resigning just wasn't good for the country because this way they could try to impede the legal orders of the officer placed over them, a court martial is exactly what would have happened. Politicians, every damn one of them.

History is written by the winners, so yes they will be kind. Kids in the future will look back on these times and truly believe that this was an era where white supremacy was the biggest problem and blacks and gays were being hunted down like animals.

I'll agree he violated the norms of civilian control and some form of condemnation of those action is reasonable. I have difficulty judging negatively his rational.

So if Trump really believes he was cheated then you also have difficulty judging negatively his rationale? Does that also apply to all those in jail over Jan 6?

Depending on which stolen election theory or arguments we are talking about. The theory that Venezuela communist forces hacked voting machines...yea if he believes that I'll negatively judge his rationale. The Pennsylvanian mail in voting law issue ....a bit more rational in his rationale. Overall I judge his rationale for believing the election was stolen negatively.
I'll admit I have a harder time judging one way or another the Jan 6th protestors rationale.

He is a traitor & an embarrassment to the 101st Airborne Division! If it were up to me, a former 101st soldier, he’d face a firing squad!
