You get out what you put in. It doesn't get any fairer than that.

Because there are many people in this world who want to be shielded from the negative consequences of their poor decisions and lack of effort.

Those who are unfit for competition would prefer a state of equality.

Because it can be heartless. At the same time....only the strong survive. As it should be. It’s nature.

It’s not capitalism that people dislike as much as they crave strong central authority to affirm their core beliefs and tell them what to do. Capitalism is freedom and freedom is scary. Psychology studies show most people are wired to be risk adverse instead of motivated by gain. This is a trait we inherited in our DNA but likely doesn’t have as much use in today’s environment.

This phrase is often used. The problem with it is that it is inherently subjective. The concept of receiving "what you put in" varies considerably from different locations and companies.

Semantics aside, I honestly don't think people have a problem with capitalism. The real problem is government interference with markets. We don't have a REAL free market system.

This is a broad generalization, but most of the people I meet who are pretty ideologically against capitalism had fathers who were heavily involved in unions

Do you believe we’re in a “pure capitalist” system?

Tragedy of the commons.. and real capitalism is not compatible with our style of government. It consumes it and then the corporations call the shots.

A mechanism to check capitalism is necessary

no but the more capitalist we become the more free we will be

real capitalists speak often about crony capitalism and they understand he risks

people who oppose capitalism promote policy that will increase crony capitalism while claiming the opposite will occur

Capitalism is about free market competition. Competition means that some win and some lose. The skill set is all about IQ and work ethic. Some groups have a distinct advantage.

I'm currently reading about preferences in India which began long before Aff Action in the US. The untouchables got huge advantages. It was supposed to last only 20 years (established in 1950). Then everybody would be equal. It's long past 1970 and the preferences are still in place. And nobody is equal.

It's also finite. Capitalism requires constant growth and the use of finite resources. World wide capitalism will eventually produce a Malthusian dilemma for humanity.
