Some people like the idea of government supporting and making choices for them, rather than supporting themselves through their own choices.

ignoring how we always seem to create efficiency, as capitalism raises the quality of life of a population, they have fewer children. it's a natural, self-correcting response to over-population

That's not happening in Africa, the Middle East, China, India and South America. All are strongly capitalist societies and are also experiencing rapid population growth.

The real problem is government interference with markets. We don't have a REAL free market system.
This.

People don't have a problem with capitalism. People have a problem with the Fascism that capitalism has morphed into in this country.

Man, I gotta disagree here. I'm doing well, but I'm LAZY.

Capitalism is great, in part, because you don't even have to be an A-type personality to thrive.

I give them the benefit of the doubt because they've made the most progress in terms of economic freedom in the shortest amount of time.

They aren't Nordic state capitalists but they are a long way from the horrors of Maoism.

Or India, for that matter. Some of their regional governments are explicitly socialist or communist, even if the current PM is libertarian-lite.

if you mean 100% "pure" capitalism? then sure, but that requires anarchy. keep government small and limited and you essentially get pure capitalism. increasing the state is what destroys freedom (aka capitalism)

and why are you singling out "corporations"?

I prob shouldnt single out corporations because it applies to any entity with power/resources.

Capitalist ideas drive prosperity but unchecked the winners in a capitalist system will protect themselves and that is true regardless of the size of government. They could do it via lobbying for legislation in a large government or by using their bank roll to lean on weaker players like you would in poker.. and force them out.

Its really easy to stay ahead once you get there

You're making a common mistake about the effects that the human population are projected to have upon the biosphere. You see a decreasing growth rate as a solution.

What you don't see is that a decreasing growth rate for 7.5 billion people will still be catastrophic for earth. With 80% of the population practicing capitalism, the depletion of resources will just be accelerated. We need a negative growth rate, and very soon.

The population for earth in 2100 is projected to be near 13 billion based upon current growth trends. Africa alone will have 5 billion people. Now apply a desire of these 13 billion people to have an American lifestyle. Is this possible?

We have won the culture war. We dominate earth. What price will the earth pay for this victory?

Do you believe we’re in a “pure capitalist” system?
Anyone who loves capitalism and free markets should write to the Trump Administration about its desire to control the Price of Gasoline

And in what system have the "winners" not used the system to protect themselves?
