Maybe he has good polling metrics that make him feel it isnt necessary.

Maybe it's better for Cruz if this idiot is on tv for an hour talking.

Maybe he knows he’s Trump’s next Supreme Court pick.

Thanks to Kavanaugh, Cruz has it in the bag. I wouldn’t risk fricking that up on stage either.

I saw a story not long ago that McConnell was keeping the Senate in session so they could keep the Democrats from taking time off to campaign. They said this strategy could hurt Cruz because his challenger is not in the Senate...

only explanation that makes sense is they must feel that he has such a lead that doing them can only allow beto a platform to score any points at all that could hurt him

This. Seems some have forgotten the last clown show of a "Townhall" CNN hosted. Cruz learned than CNN would use it as free propaganda for Beto, better he not waste his time with such a sham.

Maybe he knew Beto was gonna tell America that he didn't believe we should be selling AR-15's to private citizens because those guns are made for one thing only...........killing humans!

On CNN? I don't know any Republicans that would watch it so why bother?

An hour of free CNN, what’s that worth...$15 or so?

In the first debate, Beto ragged on Ted for taking too much time away from his Senate work to campaign. I guess Ted listened and Beto should recognize Ted’s responsiveness.

I think this is a big mistake for Cruz.

You know CNN is going to basically give Beto the script ahead of time, so he can polish his answers and basically give a one hour campaign stump speech.

I think Cruz is pretty far ahead, but this could turn the tide. If Cruz was on the stage, I don't care if CNN did slant it, Cruz would hold his own.

Big gamble for Cruz.
