Why is no one in the media questioning the polls when the data doesn't even make sense?

This poll says Biden is up 11 yet 50% think they're better off than four years ago and only 36% think things are worse. The last incumbent President to lose, George HW Bush, had his "better off" number in the 30s when he lost.
Polls say people think Trump will win, polls say everyone's neighbor is voting for Trump, polls say more people are better off than they were four years ago but every poll says Joe Biden is up 10%.

Because they really really want it to be true. And when operation count all the votes is initiated their polls will finally be proven correct.

After TrumpRussia hoax, do you think they care about credibility anymore?

I would have said I was better off in 2012 than 2008 and voted for Romney. I would also say I’m better off in 2020 than 2016 and I’m voting for Biden.
I bought house, got a new job, had a 2nd kid, which are 3 major reasons I’m better off. These weren’t the results of an politician.

What about his platform appeals to you? Not an attack, I just feel like this board doesn’t have a lot of people who are voting for Biden, so figured I’d ask.

anyone who thinks a D or R is going to win by 10% is loony to start with, but yeah, it's insane to think Biden is up that much

How can pollsters consistently see such numbers and not be willing to admit that something about our methodology must be jacked up on its face here, instead of just saying 'here's what our polls are' without any seeming concerns otherwise?

As someone else mentioned. Polls aren’t meant to be accurate, they’re meant to cheerlead

what is even worse is listening to the 538 podcast where Nate Silver has to pretend like its good data while saying his analysis only works *if the data is correct 10 times an episode. he clearly wants Biden to win and knows he's carrying water of bullshite data, but pretends like his models mean something

Trump voters don't get polled. There is no way in hell I would tell some snot nosed earring tongue & nosed stupid chick who I am voting for. She may cause retribution on many facets.
Also: A person named Richard used to have a phone number in my home. They literally called/texted from numbers all over the USA all day today every 5 minutes. We left them unspam tagged & not blocked to see what they were up to.
They finally today cited Biden by name and were desperate.

You say that, however the Trump administration is the first in decades to work on reforming housing lending, and people on average gained an additional $2,800 thanks to his tax cuts. His tax cut also gave additional funds per child.
While gaining a new job and your own fiscal responsibility are obviously are due on your part, the current administration still did help you behind the scenes even if you didn't notice or appreciate it.
Under Biden you will pay an additional $1000 / kid if you're middle class at the very least.

Because life having improved doesn't necessarily change someone's vote at all.
For instance, my life improved a lot during the Obama administration. I got a great job, many things in my life improved, I was considerably better off in 2016 than in 2008.
And yet, it didn't make me considering voting Democratic, not at all. Why should I?

Exactly, the president is not hugely responsible for the economy or stock market. Trump getting blame right now for unemployment being high because of covid is dumb. But trump getting credit for the stock market being up is just as dumb.
Having talked to many different voters, take this with a grain of salt, I've noticed, most will continue voting r or d as they did 4 years ago.
But, most dems are more motivated because Biden is a better candidate than Clinton, and there is just a lot of anti trump sentiment.

Republicans distrust the media and the polls and dont participate.
Democrats lap up the media lines like sheep and enthusiastically participate in polls with no fear or hesitation.
Republicans look at the records of the candidates and the principles of the USA.
Democrats go off of the media and indoctrination from school and feelings.

For me the demerits under Obama were obvious because the way it affected me was easily apparent.
Under Bush I usually had a tax return. Under Obama I suddenly owed a bit of money to the IRS each year even after I tried to adjust my with holdings to be more accurate.
On top of that, I worked for a Japanese company at that time. Japanese companies take healthcare for their employees pretty seriously.
I had great coverage, and paid nothing extra for it per month. The company 100% covered all costs.
After Obama care, costs rose so high that the company sent out an apology letter that employees now had to chip in. The company would still cover the bulk of it but now I would see a cost subtracted from my paycheck.
Under Obama I got promoted, made more money, then switched jobs for another pay increase...but because of all the detriments I could see I could have been getting more.

New voter registration is off the charts for Republicans

The media commissions these polls. The pollsters give them the product they want
