These food lobbyists must have black mail and millions on people in the FDA and other government agencies.

It is very clear that the garbage food they develop and produce on the cheap has affected the health of this country immensely. Obesity is at all time high.

Let's talk about kids, now more than ever on meds and the Red Dye #5 has on it. It is pure poison in food.

A lot of what the FDA approves is illegal in other countries. Ever had a coke from Mexico, it's real sugar, not chemical sweetener.

Obesity is a huge comorbidity for not only COVID but many other diseases. How much has cancer gone up over the last twenty years? we're ingesting chemicals and poisons daily.

At what point does America stand up and say no more? Seems it is completely being overlooked and swept under the rug.

You want to fix a lot of COVID issues, cut the fat!

Read 21 CFR. It has all of the FDA laws. Do you want more laws on the books and bigger government? Let companies and consumers choose for themselves and don't have the government tell me what I can eat.

What people decide to eat, is a personal decision. Ingredients and nutritional info is printed on every package. Lazy people don't bother to read packages. Lazy people get fat. Shouldn't be a surprise.

Umm. It’s all chemicals. Everything we eat has a chemical structure. I think what you mean to say is it’s “natural” but that doesn’t mean it is healthier for you. Lots of natural things can lead to sickness and death.

On one hand, no we don't.

On the other hand, when you are being lied about the pesticides that are used on our crops and the ingredients in our food, then yes you do.

The myth of the free market in the US is just that, especially in farming. Money decides what you are marketed and the choices you have…the system is rigged by the govt to favor corporate farming and food production.

And whenever someone suggests changing the food stamp rules to prohibit them from being used to buy Twinkies, Fritos and Coke, they are the first to complain.

Right. And with the exact same effect. Please don't believe the nonsense that "real sugar" isn't terrible for you.

Absolutely not.

I want the personal choices to exist. I want state a local governments to incentivize healthy eating and active lifestyles. I want insurance companies to look at BMI and say, well Mr. 5'6" @ 300#, you are going to pay a bit more because you are in a higher risk pool. But, if you take better care of yourself, I guarantee your rate to go down.

Imagine believing that society-wide obesity (caused by irresponsible people taking the easy way out in all aspects of their life and diet) is the fault of snack food companies. People could, you know, just not eat shite. These companies pump out endlessly varied new and less nutritious food because that is what the market of mouth-breathers is demanding.

Eh. I don't blame the average American for being bewildered after the decades of misinformation. The government is actively in bed with "snack food" companies pushing the toxic "food pyramid" bullshite. In the 90s, they went full bore on the "low fat" nonsense - and brands like Snack Well were just behaving rationally in that government-created environment.

Even now, there is a HUGE push to convince the average joe that red meat is toxic, when, in fact, it is about the greatest health food one could ingest. I don't give food companies a pass on that nor the government - and I don't really blame the Joes for not knowing what to believe.

It's more complex than you are portraying.

I don't think that in this age of "medical miracles" that a single disease is going down in prevalence. autism, cancer and heart disease are skyrocketing.. even among otherwise healthy people. even horrible things like ALS are increasing. and they "don't know" why. food is a huge factor. I think the only other one is the fact that we (generally speaking) don't work outside/in the dirt anymore.

I used to work for a large CPG a.k.a. Food conglomerate. The fact that every one of these companies has a “food science” division, actively looking to create cheap chemicals that mimic the taste of real things is pretty frightening.

Not every product is terrible, but I can say with confidence, stay far away from frozen foods that aren’t just plain fuits and vegetables.

Correct. Whenever someone says 'Ya know, there oughtta be a law against.....'
My antenna go up. We need fewer laws and more people allowed to suffer the consequences of poor decisions.

Just go look up “Food Inc.” on the interwebs and give it a look. It’s alarming. And Smithfield Farms was just purchased by the Chinese. Even more alarming
