Why is Biden so popular in the South?

I was just looking at Democratic primary polls. Sanders is pulling ahead almost everywhere, but Biden is a double digit leader in southern states.
I assume some of it is the black vote and his eight years of association with Obama, but does he have some magic pull among Southern whites?
It might all be moot because Bloomberg is trying to buy his fast pass to the nomination.

A certain sector of people in the South are completely ignorant. Louisiana politics should show you that.

Seems more democrats in the South are establishment democrats so they are more inclined to vote the establishment candidate. Bernie isn't seen as one and others like Steyer and Bloomberg aren't.

It's not that he's popular
I know most people don't realize this but a majority of Democratic primary voters in the South are black
Joe biden's opponents in the South are
A gay dude. Blacks don't like gays
Bernie who pissed off the blacks last time for some unknown reason
And a woman who pretended to be a person of color for most of her adult life

Its funny how the media portrays Iowa and New Hampshire as not representative of the party but shouldnt a Democratic candidate be strong in the states he needs to carry in the fall election? No democrat is going to win South Carolina. So who really cares about South Carolina. . But he better win Wisconsin(87% white) or Michigan (78% white) or Pennsylvania(80% white) to have a chance at winning the fall election.

My Grandfather would always say he'd vote for a dead dog before he would vote for a Republican. Most of those people are gone, they had their last hurrah with Jimmy Carter. The Great Society set this country back years, all for a pandering scheme to get black votes.

Southern Democrats are more moderate than most other Democrats around the country. Biden is seen by many as a moderating figure within the Democratic Party.
