Specifically for the younger ones, add the following:
An extension of their own childhood/reluctance to leave their comfort zone - academia
A chance to "do over" their bad childhoods
The captive audience of students who, in the teacher's narcissistic world, exist to play the role of their live audience who, if they disapprove, can be punished.

More women go to college than ever.
They all can’t be brain surgeons.

I saw an interesting twitter thread a while back about the radicalization of higher education. I wish I could remember whose thread it was and exact details but it was too long ago
But basically it was about a professor in 80s or 90s I think who saw academics teaching classes about radical ideas and said “it’s fine, this is a place of learning and discussing ideas” (or something to that effect) and thought it would be contained to universities. Think classes in the liberal arts about things like gender studies, etc. and the idea was that it was all theoretical and these people would fill an academic role after graduating.
Well fast forward and you have more people going to college and taking these courses than there were positions within universities for these people to fill. So they began spilling over into the real world, not just the academic one, bringing their ideas with them. That’s partially to blame for the radicalization of education in general I think

Those that can’t do … teach

Indoctrinating is part of it.
The other part of it is that the education curriculum at a lot of schools is a goddamn disgrace. It tends to be the easiest majors of any on campus, with tons of grade inflation as well.

Simple degree to obtain… lower the difficulty the lower the caliber

These freaks are not otherwise employable and school isn’t the real world.
My mother taught elementary school for 30 years and this is pretty true. She has zero perception of real job responsibilities.

Government jobs protected by rhetoric and public employees unions. They are susceptible to buying into class envy and propaganda.

It all comes down to the fact that government jobs are for the lazy. It is extremely hard to get fired from a government job, so they take advantage of this and go into fields that they can turn into cushion jobs.

They also likely have a high % of sexual deviants, which allows them a target rich environment if they get work in the school system.

It's an easy degree to earn. Easy job to get. Hard to get fired.

Definition of indoctrination: Teaching the horrors of slavery, oppression of First Americans and the Holocaust.

Here’s my thoughts on it
Leftists , or liberals are socialist, non capitalist, uncompetitive, people. They don’t do well in an environment of competition. They are puzzled by capitalism and the desire for money or material success. They actually find it immoral.
The educational environment suits them in that they are not required to produce anything of material value.
If asked to teach capitalist subject matter, they generally object.
Also, China has infiltrated our education system and is providing financial support for professors to teach the virtues of socialism and varieties. Many Americans aren’t aware of this but it’s happening all across the country.

Knew a girl in college who eventually became a very loud leftist. She was an English major who wanted to be Emily Dickinson. She wound up, like many liberal arts majors, becoming a public school teacher.
The problem with creative jobs is that most don’t pay. The second problem is they tend to attract leftist kooks.

Is it a concerted effort by leftists to indoctrinate kids (sort of like the Soviets did)? Something that a leftist is just programmed to want to do instinctually (brainwash kids)? Or just leftist freaks that happen to be teachers love to broadcast their virtue and are in the vast minority?
Obviously many of the progressives that go into academia believe real education is shaping the minds of children and young adults to embrace Wokeism/cultural Marxism.

You get to preach to young minds where you are given a massive amount of authority and has ZERO physical demands. It's tailormade for leftists.

Because most are not smart enough to do anything else.
There was a time when there were few professional opportunities for women, so most of the best and brightest went into either nursing or teaching. Now that the field is wide open, we get mediocrity, at best, in the classroom. I had one of my kids' teachers send a note home once that looked like it was written by a 3rd grader. Misspellings, poor punctuation, improper grammar, etc. That wouldn't have happened 30 years ago.

So they can be near children.
