re: Why don’t Muslims realize they need a reformation?

If Christian scholars told us what Jesus meant when he said “buy a sword,” but 40% of Christianity interpreted it as a call to arms, the scholars opinion isn’t worth shite.
The scholarly, textual analysis gives you a tool to educate that 40% with the goal of reforming their behavior.
The alternative would be to vilify ALL Christians for the misguided interpretations and actions of that 40%. I decline to do so.

If 40% of Christians were fine with suicide bombing civilians, Christianity would have a problem. Keep dancing.

Yes if there’s one thing we know about old mo-hammed, it’s that he was a peaceful man who didn’t care for buggering kids.....
No one was discussing Muhammad’s child bride, yet you drag that tired old topic into an unrelated discussion. It would almost seem that you do not WANT to engage in a civil analysis of an interesting issue.

He will.
Then it will reach a point where he realizes his lies are too stupid to defend then he will go cook grits or play outside.

Here is a peaceful Orlando Imam discussing the killing of gays
Religion of Peace
An Islamic scholar who spoke earlier this year at an Orlando mosque has previously said gay people should be killed according to Islamic law “out of compassion.”
“Death is the sentence,” Sheikh Farrokh Sekaleshfar said at a speech at the Husseini Islamic Center in Orlando in 2013. “We know. There’s nothing to be embarrassed about this. Death is the sentence.”
“We have to have that compassion for people,” he continued. “With homosexuals, it’s the same. Out of compassion, let’s get rid of them now.”
Mr. Sekaleshfar spoke again at the Islamic center in April of this year. Orlando citizens at the time said he should not have been invited, given his previous comments on homosexuality.
“It’s appalling. In fact, it’s inciting violence against gays, and I find that reprehensible,” Alan Kornman, an Orlando resident, told Channel 9 News at the time.

The religion as a whole is incredibly violent, they are killing Christians at an absolutely astronomical rate, it doesn’t take genius to realize that they need to be saved from their own intolerance and dogmatism.
Why would the powers that be in Islam want to reform? Their religion is spreading rapidly, western nations are bending to their will, and they are getting closer and closer to a caliphate.

It is related to the subject.
It speaks to what kind of person mo was.
He was a violent conquerer who advocated slavery, murder and child diddling, but you want to frame him as a misunderstood poet...
Compelling people to kill in his name is right in line with who he was.

I have never said that Islam does not HAVE a problem. It clearly does. And that problem is an uneducated mass of adherents who behave in a manner inconsistent with the teachings of its founding text.
If Islam were a unified body (like Christianity prior to the Great Schism), a Muslim pope could issue a proclamation resolving the issue. Unfortunately Islam (at least Sunni Islam) does not HAVE such a figure. Any street preacher with a 2nd-grade education can issue a competing fatwa.
Again, it is a problem.

BTW you do know that Wikipedia isn’t infallible, right?
He's trying to "lawyer" this thread.
Oh. And hide from the other.

So just to be clear: you think Mohammed was a good guy who is being misinterpreted by his followers?

You might want to start by not being full of shite.

In the referenced thread, you and Shorty made much of my reference to a statement by a retired lawyer who occasionally contributes to the Daily Kos. You call it a beat down. I call it meaningless, petty bickering over minutiae.
Yeah. You still are trying to pull the boot out of your arse Mr. DailyKos aficionado.

Predictably, the thread quickly devolved into “all them Mooozlems is downraht eevul.” That is a shame, because a potential Muslim Reformation is an interesting topic.

into “all them Mooozlems is downraht eevul.
Actually a lot of them are just forced into this cult.
The cult’s founder however was an evil piece of Shiite.
