Apparently it’s only “too minor to discuss” when the subject is something they don’t like.
This forum definitely has more than its fair share of “stop talking about things I don’t like” folks.

You would know. You're one of them.

Commander and Chief - check
Uniform (you could technically say the president’s uniform is whatever the F he decides to wear that day) - check
President can salute.

He may not be wearing a uniform but he is Commander in Chief of the military. I won’t complain about this in light of how some of these other fools are exercising their first amendment rights.

Why? Because he feels like it.

Lol I guess I should make another Massie thread and see how that goes.

It doesn't matter if a President never served active duty in the military. As a Commander-in-Chief, it's 100% acceptable to salute. The decision is entirely left up to them, and many former Presidents have historically chosen to do so.
Getting upset with Trump doing so only illustrates how absolutely broken many leftists who share this attitude are. That this turd has a Ukrainian flag in his bio tells us everything we need to know.

2) Clinton had a really lousy half-hearted salute and the Marines eventually stopped facing the steps and the president. They faced forward. It’s the little things.
Now, they’re facing Trump and Trump snaps off a sharp, respectful salute.
We are not the same

I think this is overstating it a bit. Obviously presidents can do what they want but the language allowing military members/vets to salute when they're not in uniform is a relatively recent change. We probably haven't had more than 3 presidents since it was written, so I'd be curious about the "many former" presidents who regularly did this.

Nobody is “upset” that Trump physically raised his hand into a salute. The discussion is about the contrast between the image and the biography.
A man who served is saluting. A man who didn’t serve is saluting. A man who dodged the draft is saluting.
Those are not identical things, and pretending they are is why you keep arguing with a point nobody made.

AI:
The following presidents since Reagan have continued the tradition of the presidential return salute:
George H.W. Bush: Continued the tradition established by Reagan.
Bill Clinton: Saluted military personnel despite not having a military background.
George W. Bush: Returned salutes, drawing on his own military experience.
Barack Obama: Generally returned salutes, though he received criticism on occasion for inconsistent form or holding items while saluting.
Donald Trump: Frequently returned salutes and expanded the gesture to military ceremonies.
Joe Biden: Continues the tradition of returning military salutes.

The salute isn't really the issue.

I'm talking about saluting the flag when not in uniform, not returning a salute.

The real issue is that Trump could cure cancer and you and your ilk would criticize it. Fact. Note - You can nullify my claim above by linking your posts congratulating Trump for anything he has done so far in his two terms. Your move.
That’s creative, but it’s not how this works.
You made the claim that I would criticize Trump no matter what. The burden is on you to support that claim, not on me to prove a negative by producing a scrapbook of every opinion I’ve ever held. More importantly, whether I’ve praised Trump before has nothing to do with whether my criticism is valid.

If POTUS chooses to salute they may and are miles ahead of the way Barry acted at times.
