Because his supporters will believe anything he says. He understands that he represent a group in this country that believe that White people are losing their advantage that they once held in this country.
So they are willing to overlook the obvious, abandon their moral/religious principles, and believe whatever he says, if it means that he will stop brown people from coming into this country.
