Because when Obama was president the GOP passed 16 bills repealing Obamacare but when Obama was gone they couldn’t do it.

They don't actually need to filibuster. They basically need to say "filibuster" and it's set until 60 votes agree to end debate. Like Chappelle's "FIF!"

Problem is that when the Dems control the Senate at some time in the future we'll need it to stop their anti-American lunacy.

So he waited until he needed MORE Dems to side with the wall to shut the government down over it?

That doesn't make any sense.

Because it wasn’t that big of a deal until the Dems won the house and they said he’s never gonna get it.

You must have missed the entire 2016 presidential campaign. Listening to Trump on the campaign trail, one would've thought the first two things he would've done upon taking office would've been to lock up Clinton and start building the wall.

Because he doesn't really want the wall.

He wants to be able to drum up ignorant fools about the need for the wall, without ever actually having to do anything to build it.

Please link me to the Democrats that voted for the GOP tax bill to make it a supermajority.

Thanks in advance!

It’s like you’re not even trying but okay simpleton, the tax plan was passed under a continuing resolution which only required it to have a simple majority in the senate.

MAGA.

Did you attend a Civics class in school at any level and do you watch any credible news?

Trump has had a majority in both houses. He has not had CONTROL of both houses. The Dems had enough votes in the Senate to prevent anything they oppose from coming to a vote. This may be why America actually increased the Senate Republican margin this year but they lost the House majority.

If you think this echo chamber is a better place to get real information and insight that your other options, you need to delete everything you have bookmarked.

This is a site overtaken by true believers, conspiracy theorists, and trolls, and nothing more.

He should have pushed for the wall right after he was elected and when he was most popular.

He may not have had the votes, but voting against him at that time would have been tougher and it also would have put voters on notice as to the extent of the problem with RINOs and leftists.

Trump made a tactical error IMHO.

So your point is, the McConnell Senate should abandon normal order, go nuclear, and take bills to reconciliation circumventing opposition's right by Senate rules to filibuster? That certainly is how Reid passed obamacare. It is also similar to the basis Reid put in place allowing Trump to appoint judges.

But to be clear, you and I agree. I too wish McConnell would have brought the build-the-wall bill to reconciliation. Dems would have lowered the bar and gone nuclear if the shoe were on the other foot. No question. It is who they are. IMO, McConnell is a doddering fool in trying to maintain decorum with this group. He is applying Marquess of Queensberry Rules to a fight with Son of Sam.

He always needed dems votes in the Senate. It's not a simple majority vote. He got a bill passed in the house and offered Scumer 2 million DACA at one point to get it done, and Chuck said "no".

The difference between then and now is basically the dems gains in the house minus the rep senate gains.
