I'm still scratching my head about it. She wasn't popular within the party and they trotted her out there anyways..

They decided that they couldn't run Biden and wanted to maintain access to the already-raised campaign funds for the Biden-Harris ticket. A new candidate would have required new fundraising, and it was already too late in the game to do that once they decided they needed to change.

Biden pretty much screwed them. First he ran for reelection with applesauce for a brain. Then after it became totally obvious to the world he had applesauce for a brain and had to drop out he immediately endorsed her kind of forcing the Dems into a corner.

Biden screwed them over by ever running is the main reason. No one else stood a chance that late in the game. But also the democratic party hasn't really had a great candidate since Obama.
That isn't saying Obama was a great president, but candidate wise he gave the Dems someone who could actually win. They have not really had anyone worthwhile since then.

They REQUIRE someone (like Biden) that could easily be judged unfit to stand trial and too stupid to realize what was being done under their authority.

All true, but it was easy for party leadership to convince themselves that they could win in 2024 with applesauce-for-a-brain when they had “won” the election against the same candidate four years earlier with applesauce-for-a-brain.
You can credit the Trump team for limiting cheating in 2024. That team won’t be around next time, and whichever candidate emerges will likely be stuck with a R Party that will do nothing about cheating in select big cities in swing states. Again.

After Biden specifically nominated Judge Dredds on SCOTUS, the Dems could not then bypass a nonwhite woman VP in favor of a white guy.
If Kamala had not been VP to begin with, they might have gotten away with picking a different Biden replacement, but she was too high profile to skip over, according to the various Dem voter blocks.
