Don't stock up at your house beyond what you can carry. You want to stock up at your primary and secondary bugout locations.

The reason they're panicking is because it ISN'T monitored and controlled like you say it is. They're watching youtube videos uploaded by crackpots.

I have had a couple people warning me to stock up. The common denominator was each one had a family member in the military that called home with this suggestion.

I'm not endorsing whether it will or won't be necessary, but it is interesting to say the least.

Your family members are probably educated and have a knowledge of history. In Rome, during Commodus' rule, Commodus became a recluse and refused to rule after the murder of his #1 advisor. His new #1, Cleandor, essentially became ruler and controlled the food supply. In an effort to increase support from the public, Cleandor devised a scheme to create a food shortage and withhold grain and livestock from the public. He felt that if he could control the food, that he could create a problem, that only he himself could solve and gain favor. His plan backfired.

So the similarities are, government often creates problems that often government can solve. If people understood history better, many of our current problems wouldn't happen.
