The major issue is Ukraine and Russia fight along Poland border. NATO might fire on to Russia forces.

Now that we've seen how inept Russian forces are, I'd put my money on Poland in a defensive war.

The reason I support Ukraine is to erode the capacity of a second-rate power to swallow its neighbors and project global influence through reckless threats and nuclear blackmail.
Russia has already proven it’s incapable of getting the old band back together—much less credibly threatening Paris or London. But would you bet your children’s future on a geopolitical landscape where any B-team country with nukes gets to impose delusions of grandeur on the rest of the world?
Nuclear weapons exist—they’re out there. We’ve all lived under their shadow our entire lives. It sucks. But is a world where a KGB-agent-turned-mob-boss, high on Peter the Great biographies and Soviet nostalgia, getting to dictate global terms through the threat of nuclear winter, really the future you want?
None of this board’s relatively recent passion for pacifism amounts to a hill of beans when the other country doesn’t give a frick how a bunch of plant operators and MBA's from a state school feel about their tax dollars or "global policing."

Why hasn’t Russia committed the manpower to overrun Ukraine is the bigger question.
As it stands they are slowly depleting the military aged manpower of Ukraine while slowly bleeding the west dry of financial resources. It is a win win for them. If they kill all the men, ther is no insurgency when they finally take over and then Russian men fill the void in Ukraine to solidify Russians hold there in the future.

Russia lets in millions of central Asian Muslims to work the same jobs millions of illegals do in the US

But when has there been any remote threat of a ground war breaking out between Russia and any western power in the past 35 years where Russia would be in danger of invasion? Except for when Russia invades its neighbors.
