Eisenhower and Nixon had to clean up Democrat messes. Ford didn't get involved with anything.

Reagan didn't get us started in any wars. We handled the Grenada incident pretty quickly.
Ford was president when we completely got out of Vietnam in 1975, and Nixon started the process of getting us out.
Eisenhower inherited the Korean War from Truman.
So, you really don't have to go that far back to find it. Just look at our history prior to the GHWB.

How do you define “war”? How do you define “get us into” a war?
I guess Reagan. That’s if you don’t count Granada.
Bush Sr. “Got us into” the first Gulf War, in response to Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait.
Bush Jr. got us into Afghanistan in response to 911 and then went after Saddam in Iraq.
Then there’s Trump. He did not get us into a war during the 1st term, but attacked Iran along with Israel in the 2nd.
Probably a few military actions I’m missing.
