I missed the patterson/TCU n-word controversy but Whitlock writes about it and the use of the N word in general. Very powerful stuff.

LINK /

quote:

...Patterson did not call Jordan the n-word. He used the word in an attempt to explain to Jordan he was disappointed that Jordan used it in a team meeting.

Before I continue, let me state that I do not know Gary Patterson. I’ve never talked to him. No one connected to Patterson or TCU contacted me about this incident. The absurdity of the Patterson-Jordan controversy caught my attention. For years I have advocated that black people, white people, mixed-race people, rappers and everyone should abstain from using the n-word.

Nothing good comes from the word. It was a label placed on black slaves to ease the psychological burden on both the owners of black slaves and the slaves themselves. **** and **** equal less than human. The words reduce black people to pets/animals. Slave owners saw black people as less than and wanted black people to see themselves as less than.

The n-word, with an “er” or “a” ending, has worked perfectly for hundreds of years. The word has never been more powerful than it is today, now that it has been “claimed” by black people.

We see ourselves as less than. Why do I say that?

Because the prevailing sentiment is that our behavior and how we view ourselves are irrelevant. Only the behavior and opinion of white people matter. If a black man kills a black man, it doesn’t matter nearly as much as when a white man kills a black. If black people think of themselves as n-words, it’s irrelevant. It only matters how white people view us. ...

Now. I want to see someone intelligently defend calling him a coon, or uncle Tom.

I don't agree with Whitlock all the time as he still has some petty views towards white people and racism but he is very consistent on his stance of taking personal responsibility for your own decisions and that message is great for everyone.

Well-written piece from Whitlock.

Patterson did NOTHING wrong. He did not use the dreaded "n-word" to disparage Black people. To the contrary, he used it in an entirely-constructive way.

It is ridiculous that Americans are afraid to use a given word, even in the context of expressing disapproval of the use of that word in a disparaging manner.

I can say that "it is WRONG to call someone a kike or a mick or wop or a spic." It is insane that I cannot say "it is WRONG to call someone a ****." (note the automatic censorship of only one of those terms, all of which I typed in full).

Form over substance. Pure and simple.

Wow.
The universe is weird.
I haven't read this anywhere.
I was just saying this to my wife last week.

Whitlock has matured lot since he was a sports writer for the KC Star and an afternoon sports radio host. I wouldn't call Whitlock a race baiter back in his KC days but he wouldn't hesitate to use the race card either.

Should be said by everyone, everyday until everyone becomes so sick of the word it's no longer said by anyone.

Go into Home Depot and there's a old white lady with a Home Depot vest on, say "hey
quote:

n-word, with an “er”
where can I find bug spray?"

In the checkout line at Publix and there's a young black chick, "hey
quote:

n-word, with an “er”
how's it going?"

Here's where our problem lies:
quote:

I apologize for the use of a word that, in any context, is unacceptable.
- Patterson

No, just NO! A group of letters smashed together to form sounds CAN NOT be some forbidden thing! It may be a sound that is insulting and best not used as such...but it CAN NOT be wiped out of the language.

As Louis CK aptly made the case years ago, saying "The N Word" is just asking the listener to figure out what you mean by "The N Word" and then say it in his own head. All we're doing is pretending that not uttering the word it's vanished.

Intent matters. If there is no intent to cause insult, then it's just a regular word like any others. Until we come to grips with this, this problem will remain.

I listen to Outkick every morning, but Whitlock doesn’t do anything to make that program any better.

I agree. If we have to give up "Master Bedroom", standing for the national anthem, and men only restrooms, black people need to give up using the n-word as a term of endearment and fraternity amongst themselves.

What????

Thomas Sowell is an intellectual icon that has a depth of wisdom and knowledge of society and economics that Whitlock wishes.
Sowell was a professor and should've been idolized by the black community but the fact that he was a conservative and spoke truth he was despised by them and by the race baiters on that side.

I'll have to read a lot more of Whitlocks stuff I guess if he is thought of in the Thomas Sowell vein. I'm not seeing it.

We don’t matter. We are not responsible for or in control of our own welfare or destiny.

No one says more about what Blacks are incapable of than Leftists. Want to be successful? "You can't without White people helping you".

The logic trap is stunning. They presume all White poeple are accidential, and incurable racists. Yet their solution to Black people's lack of success is white people providing all of the solutions.

If you're solution depends on the cause of the problem... you're stupid.

quote:

My Decisions Matter. I’m not a pet.

We’re not abandoned pets in need of saving by white liberals. I’m sorry if that offends. But I reject the racist view that my success in life is dependent on the benevolence of white people.

It's offensive how Leftists treat POCs like zoo animals. He nails it!

Sounds a lot like the uproar over the swastikas at the protest up in Michigan. The swastikas didn’t represent the protestors, they were pasted onto pictures of Whitmer. Of course, the disingenuous media misrepresented that.

Same could be said for Whitlock except I don’t think Whitlock is a conservative.

And I agree Sowell is in another league, but my stance is we have another black preaching similar ideas as Sowell that has a gift as a journalist and the courage to confront the mob.
