Head Start is actually administered by local government

Subject to all federal mandates and "guidelines"

And you think when this attempt gets immediately challenged to the 9th circuit it'd go anywhere?

they actually try to recruit students for these programs so they can get extra federal funding for each student

You just described every program that any school can get money from Uncle Sugar for per capita. Special needs anyone?

We are 18.9% over budget. You would have to cut nearly 100% of all federal discretionary spending outside entitlements and military spending. Good luck.

The easiest place to cut would be the pentagon. Our military spinning is about 60% supporting our troops and national security, and 40% giveaway to large corporations and defense contractors. Let’s at least get the pentagon to a place it can pass an audit.

You are so mind-dumbingly stupid.

No wonder you purportedly let OT children run a train on you.

You don't see the error.

I asked you a serious question.
I'm surprised at your non-answer.

The country has serious fiscal problems. If you kick the can down the road, the same kids you are trying to help will be left with a miserable, and perhaps dangerous life situation. Rather than complain about others, layout your plan.

For example, one could combine a 5yr hard top-line budget freeze in nominal dollars, and zero-based budgeting along with extra revenue sourcing: Surplus-based tariffs, US-earned funding targeting foreign recipients taxed at normal income rates, and a 6% national sales tax.

E.g., Your headstart program is slated to increase from ~ $12B to $13B this year. Given the above proposal, next year your headstart program would instead be funded at $12B (assuming bring in funds from another fund or vice versa) .... Democrat politicians refer to that as a draconian "cut."

i gave you an honest answer. I do not have a spreadsheet with every expenditure of the government. If I did, I would perhaps be able to comb through it and give you an assessment of which specific spending I would cut.

I don't have a problem paying taxes. I understand that living in a society costs money. I don't lament over "theft' and "other people blah blah blah." Like anyone else, I can make more money if I choose to. I can get a second job or find a higher paying job.

I don't agree with consumption taxes, but I live in a red state with the highest consumption taxes in the nation. My Republican governor led the charge to increase them even more recently.

Good news. With the billions spent on social programs since the Great Society we should already be great but aren’t. So let’s cut the financial burden many of us pay to carry the rest of the country.

Another thing we need to do is assess bang for the buck. We spend a truckload on 1°/2° education with very poor results to show for the trouble. Self evaluation and performance improvement in our public system is ineffective (to be kind). So I'd offer that with better understanding of bang-for-the-buck throughout the system, perhaps, if there are huge advantages to headstart, funding could/should be syphoned that direction from bloated EdAdmin?

"Other Health Programs" like what?

I would cut foreign military aid and "Other foreign affairs."

Why don't you pull yourself up by your bootstraps and earn more money? Taxes have been a thing for your entire existence. Did you think you would somehow be exempt?

I really don't understand how grown people are surprised that they have to pay taxes. Somalia, Qatar and Kuwait don't have income taxes. There are other countries without income taxes. Why don't you consider moving to one of them? Complaining about paying taxes won't get you very far here.

In industry and certainly in medicine, we term the process "Performance Improvement." PI involves identifying areas for improvement, implementing improvement strategies, and monitoring progress to achieve desired outcomes, such as increased productivity, safety, efficiency, effectiveness, and outcome.

More Details: Other Health Programs

• Services like the Consumer Product Safety Commission, which regulates consumer products that may pose a fire, electrical, chemical, or mechanical hazard.

• The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration works to expand availability and improve quality of services for those suffering from addiction or mental illness.

• The Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry responds to and investigates the effects of natural and man-made hazardous substances.

This is what has led me to believe the only way forward is to essentially burn government down. Can anybody think of a single thing fedgov does effectively and efficiently? We would be best off to burn it to the ground (as much as possible) and start over.
