The White House launched 25 Freedom Fuel gas stations, all selling fuel at $3.47 a gallon.

The White House announced the initiative on July 7 on X with a video of customers thanking President Donald Trump for lowering gas prices. The gas stations are located in the greater Philadelphia area, the White House told USA TODAY in an email on Tuesday, July 7.

In the video, one customer claimed the gas station saved him money. "I thought gas was more expensive, but it's not," the man, who was not identified, said. "Thanks, Trump, for saving me some money."

National average does not reflect local prices. Gas was sold today for $3.29 in my market.

Location matters.

I'd have to know more.

This appears it was a temporary promotion for the holiday. And in that case it's a marketing ploy in hopes it drives traffic where all the shite inside your store is overpriced too. This is just business, not socialism.

This is a great idea. Let’s do government run grocery stores next with specials on Trump’s birthday and other national holidays.

That’ll really stick it to the commies!

According to the Washington Examiner, Freedom Fuel Network is a private company that owns all 25 ‘Freedom Fuel’ gas stations,” a White House official told the Washington Examiner. “The Administration is not involved in the company, nor has the Administration given the company any funding. There is no other entity or person subsidizing the lower gasoline costs.”

It's a local network of stations not affiliated with the White House.

Meanwhile, we’re still waiting on Brandon’s and Buttyplug’s electric stations they promised years ago.

Yes, apologies to everyone as The Hill article I posted and linked didn’t do a good job, or any, to explain what these were. Here’s an article a local Fox affiliate in PA posted this afternoon:

quote:

HARRISBURG, DAUPHIN CO. (WOLF) — A new gas station brand called Freedom Fuel is making its debut in Pennsylvania, drawing attention after President Donald Trump publicly promoted the company and its discounted fuel prices around the Fourth of July holiday.

Unlike traditional brands such as Sheetz, Wawa, Exxon or Sunoco, Freedom Fuel is not a single chain of company-owned gas stations. Instead, it is a network of independently owned stations that have adopted the Freedom Fuel name while continuing to operate under local ownership.

The company has announced approximately 25 locations across Pennsylvania and New Jersey, with stations concentrated in southeastern Pennsylvania, the Harrisburg area and southern New Jersey.

The closest location to Northeastern Pennsylvania is in Camp Hill.

The stations gained widespread attention after Trump highlighted the company on social media, saying participating locations would offer gasoline at reduced prices during the Independence Day holiday.

The White House has said Freedom Fuel is a privately owned business and is not affiliated with or subsidized by the federal government.

While many of the stations have advertised fuel prices below nearby competitors, the company has not publicly explained how those discounts are funded. Industry analysts have questioned whether the lower prices can be sustained over the long term.

According to Freedom Fuel's website, participating stations continue to be locally owned businesses while operating under the Freedom Fuel Network branding.

As of this week, no Freedom Fuel stations are operating in Northeastern Pennsylvania.

The company says it plans to continue expanding its network, although it has not announced whether additional stations will open in the Scranton or Wilkes-Barre area.

Freedom Fuel has published a list of participating locations on its website for motorists interested in finding the nearest station.
