Since this is poliboard thread, slight hijack:

"Hey, from now on, we're only going to use traditional black people names for hurricanes. We cool?"

The left: That's racist.

"Sorry. Didn't realize that would be a sore point. frick it, then, we won't use traditionally black people names for hurricanes, ever again."

The left: That's racist.

"Okay. We'll just treat black folks like we treat everybody else."

The left: That's racist.

There's been a good bit of sinking air over the main development region so far this year. Storms need to sustain convection to go tropical. The Caribbean has been a wall of shear.

The sinking effect should be moving out by early September and we'll probably see storms get going then. Not a long window for the long track storms off Africa.

You're afraid of hurricanes? I've been through 5. There is a distinct exhilaration that beats the hell out of any carnival ride or movie with special effects.

Meanwhile Florida's Governor tried a new tactic to keep them out of the Sunshine State (and the Director of Emergency Management did likewise):

You know the deal with modeling that far out. Does suggest we are getting toward the expected active phase for the year.
