So you'd be cool with the Klan marching around town wearing masks? You'd be cool with Nazi's wearing Hitler masks, walking around destroying property and getting in fights, etc?
We have to be consistent here.
Id be cool with the states and courts deciding what’s a problem and needs to be fixed
Not the federal government.
Notice I didn’t comment on the law. Just that if the talking points I hear here all the times are to believed to be earnest, just about all of the conservatives here should have a problem with the origin.

but I'm not about to propose another federal law to solve this problem.
In the context of an organized mob with a history of violence...why not??

Becuase it's not authorized by the Constitution. Something like this belongs squarely within the police power of the States.

Right. And?? If it was a police action...you're good with that?

Separate issue

Totally against.
I’m no fan of ANTIFA pussies, at all. But this gives the government Way too much power.
What happens if, one day, we actually have a more totalitarian government? If one is protesting what they believe to be a legitimate cause? Maybe you don’t want to show your face because simply protesting can make you a target of government action?
If protesters/rioters, masked or not, break the law by being violent, or whatever, arrest them and charge them accordingly. If you’ve committed a crime that is already in the books, you should be held accountable whether you are masked or not.
Sets a bad precedent IMO

The "Mask" of antifa soyboys just identify who to punch. Let them wear their bandanas. They have been humiliated so much lately I can't imagine many more want to be viral videoed getting knocked the frick out.

I wouldn't feel good about it, but if they're not hurting people or destroying property...the state shouldn't stop them.

We have laws dealing with that already.
Anti-masking laws are some authoritarian bullshite.

Another law for taking away our freedom, absolutely not.

Louisiana has it. 14:313. Misdemeanor. No hoods, masks or other facial disguises in public except for Halloween, Marci Gras, public parade put on by school church or govt, riding motorcycle or medical or religious reasons.

The question was if I supported a federal anti mask law. "Ensuring that protestors or rioters cannot conceal their identities" is not an enumerated federal power granted to Congress by the Constitution... so I don't support such a law.

If it was a state law, yes, provided that such is authorized by the constitution of that particular state.
I freely admit that it's a defensible idea to ban such masks. I just don't support knee jerk legislation that is outside of a legislature's power.

In your hypothetical, where society has decayed to the point that legitimate peaceful protesting gets you thrown in prison, or worse, why the frick are you doing that instead of finding a way to burn down every government building within 1,000 miles of where you live?

I don't buy it. Try walking into your local 711 at 1 AM with a mask on and try telling the clerk "first amendment, bro." Let's see how long you remain alive or not in prison.
Try walking into a bank to cash a check wearing one.
ETA: Try boarding a plane wearing one too.

As much as I would enjoy that law, it eats too much into the Constitution
