You seem like the kind or person who would ask if I would like a coke or a sprite. If I pick coke you will say I am prejudiced against sprite.

The person who brings the network hire can be made to look bad if the hire doesn't workout. The DEI hire has no such consequence.

THIS

quote:

But that network was based on familiarity, similarity, common bonds .common friends, common networks, and family.
which meant that there was an underlying reason to get along at work because if you didn't there might be a reputation lost or the Uncle that helped you get the job would help again,, so the consequences

which with DEI there are none.. Other than the celebration and celebrity of victimhood which thay love

This board loves to demonize minorities. It's pretty simple.

Some minorities do a damned good job of demonizing themselves. See: FBI UCR.

Is anyone here advocating for nepotism?
the OP Attached a great deal of weight to my use of uncle and family in my answer ignoring that I gave all sorts of other places and examples of where a good old boy would be hired from

Hey for those of you that went to LSU and were looking for a job I'm sure you used LSU Network the Aggies brag all the time about the aggie network

God forbid we hire college graduate that went to a state school as opposed to a community college, Where graduates can't even read or write past the 6th grade level , TSU just 20 years ago...

I only mentioned the uncle at the close of the paragraph because if you embarrass your uncle on the job that he got you you're going to hear about it from your uncle and family members that is motivation to at least try to do your job right

Looks like it's only DEI hires they want to complain about...wonder why

When companies start having a "Good Ole Baw Network" division in the company, along with "Good Ole Baw Network" training, workshops, and forced hires, then you might have an argument.

Until then, your argument is quite stupid.

PS. I am for merit based hiring and promotion. It is the only way to build a strong and just company and society. It is what MLK advocated for. Somehow, the people pushing DEI want to forget his most famous speech of all.

Why is that?

HR: I need you to at least interview one of them

I was told of a situation where a work crew has been down a worker for several months causing everyone to work tons of forced overtime... bc they were waiting on a diversity hire to interview. No one diverse enough had interviewed and they refuse to hire anyone until they get their diverse applicant.

It’s not that’s it’s needed. It’s how the hiring practices have been interpreted…the good ole boys.

DEI policies are blatantly racist. There is no argument in the world that changes this fact.

Neither should be acceptable but the difference between “DEI” and “ole baw who got hired simply because he has a buddy at the company or is pals with the hiring manager” is one is part of an official policy while the other isn’t.

There's nothing for him/her/they to say bc the argument is ignorant. No companies are forcing the "good ol boy" angle when hiring... unlike DEI.
