Yeah, but Japan didn’t attack us because we were minding our own business. The isolationists (I’m not one) can always say that if we had not squeezed Japan with our virulent trade policies they would have left us alone and the war would have happened without us.

We were (still are) building out the American empire in every other country's backyard. Eventually there's going to be a clash.
