Ok i know some of you think masks are great. I’m not asking you whether or not you agree with me. I’m asking you how i should going about standing up for what i truly believe is best for my kids and their health. Not their protection from covid - their long term physiological and even social and psychological health.

My belief is based on several studies that were done on adults long before covid. These studies show the inspiration rate of CO2 while wearing a mask is 2000-4000 ppm depending on the mask (cotton like us ladies wear to match our outfits and n95s)
Inspiration of CO2 while NOT wearing a mask is 250ppm. Note that in a building in a closed room, CO2 levels measured above 1000 ppm are considered too high and ventilation improvements are recommended. A normal closed classroom is usually measured around 800ppm. So now we’ve got our kids at 2,000-4000 when they are masked.

You can study effects of high CO2 inspiration. I’m not going to get into that here. Just wanted to show you that masks do indeed cause more CO2 inspiration.

So, with all of that being said i don’t want my 13, 9, and 5 year old wearing masks for 7.5 hours a day 5 days a week for 9 months straight. It is my job as a mother to protect them from something logic tells me is not good for them. Something they on their own cannot protect themselves from.

They are at a catholic elementary school. We have been with this school for 14 years. (Our oldest is 19.) It really is a great school. The teachers are smart, kind, and reasonable. Of all 14 years only 2 of the teachers got on my nerves. That’s saying a lot when you consider 2 of our kids were there k-8 and one is is in 8th and the other 4th and our last starting kindergarten.

The receptionist today was upset about the Governor and the bishop’s decision. But the school as a whole is rule abiding and they are not going to rock the boat.

SO, as a parent, what should I do? I don’t want to homeschool. I will if i have to, but i think I socialization is important.

Why can’t it be the vaccinated do their thing and unvaccinated do theirs and the masked do theirs and unmasked do theirs and we all just get along? Why does it have to be vaccinated masked way or the highway?

And these masks don’t work on kids who are chewing on them, sweating on them, and touching them all day long. If anything they spread MORE germs. When it comes to children, anyone should be able to admit that.

Shut up and pay your taxes, the adults know what’s best for you.

pull them and homeschool (try to find likeminded parents and do it together, so you can have the socialization).

mine are college students (one going into Junior year, one starting Freshman). I have already told them if their school goes online/remote they can withdraw if they want.

Call a lawyer or home school. They lose funding when kids are home schooled.

I would not want school aged kids right now. I agree with all you said. Masks without full infection control and gloves are a fake sense of security.

Search online they have the kind with a little breathable filter, if you get black no one see the little black filter. I hate that any child has to do this. It is so sad.

Teach them yourself. You have to take a stand sometime

Your children should be that line in the sand

everyone seems to be forgetting all the money teachers unions got to work from home. they may like their new home office and that is what dictates, not public health concerns.

I’m afraid my 13 and 9 year old will hate me for it. I guess there are worse things in life....

When i called the receptionist today i asked her if other parents called, and she said i was the only one. That was discouraging. but she said it was possible the teachers and principal were getting emails.

Similar boat, paying for crazy expensive private school to save child from the school-board decrees. Well the school already imposed masks all the way down to Kindergarten. I'd pull her in a heartbeat, but alas, divorce settlement with her state loving mother says she stays there and I pay for it completely unless I can convince her otherwise.

Scheduled a call with the dean, for whatever good that will do.

People who have their own homes pay property taxes that go to schools currently . You pull your kids and home school is fine if you can but still pays these taxes . I believe it’s better to be in front of city councils , school board meetings, PTA’s and vote these MFers out

You can't. That's the point.
Trump won.
Vitter probably won. Rispone won.
It doesn't matter if we vote. Only recourse is either civil disobedience or home schooling.

In Kansas the taxes go to the state certified homeschooling program. Everyone gets a free certified curriculum with proctored testing and fully accredited transcripts that are fully compliant with college requirements.

Send my kids to school wearing a fake mask or a mask that says wearing a mask is useless.

Our school is optional; no ones wearing them. If they change to mandatory, my 2 are joining their sister at private school and the Cleave is eating Pinto beans & rice for the next 6 years

Most parents know that calling the school office is pointless since these decisions are made above the school principals.

Now THAT is a damned fine way to do it! Are there any other states that do this? (I would imagine teachers' unions would have a fit in most places.)

Put them in a private school that doesn’t require masking.
