several counties of northern California have voted in favor of a new state. a judge then ruled it can not be allowed because it would entail a transition he didn't like.
he made up the entire ruling.

I don’t understand why you guys get so bent out of shape when ppl tell you itl never happen. Nobody takes you all seriously when there are drugs and illegals walking right thru your state and nothing is done. The day your state chooses to do something, I may believe you a bit more.

And what will the response be? BuT tHaTs tHe JoB oF tHe fEdErAl GoVt aNd tHeYrE dOinG nOtHinG!! (Kind of the point you rely heavily on the fed govt)

I'd love to see a Governor openly start making moves to remove his/her state from the federal teat - that alone would get the knives out from all quarters. This scenario is shielded by those entanglements.

Seeing DeSantis or the like openly start to disentangle would have every institution panicking - it would be very entertaining. DeSantis already freaks them out with his sharp rhetoric against the agencies, etc.

I think we'll see some of it in the next decade. Although I suspect it'll be more along the lines of open/stated disregard for federal authority than the real groundwork I'm talking about above.

Immediate injunction sought by the federal government, which would be issued. Then the state would lose in Court on the merits of secession and that would be that.

What would be the chain of events be to follow? Let's say a state like Texas or Florida simply said they would no longer be recognizing the federal government as legitimate, and will be doing their own thing going forward.

Governor and State legislature would be arrested and charged with federal crimes.

The Texas constitution allows for this.

Nothing the Texas Constitution says trumps federal law or gives Texas the ability to leave the Union unilaterally.

The fact that Texas has turned more purple than the state of Illinois tells me Texans don’t really have a say what is going on. Can they leave, sure, I don’t think they’d be successful. They’d be more like to be gotten kicked off the big tit.
You have bogus information. Texas is not purple.

If that was his reason then he is an idiot.

If California and Congress agreed to it, there would be nothing stopping it.

Where did I get bent out of shape?

That’s false.

Do you think TEXIT folks aren’t incensed over this? We want no part of the status quo and are more disgusted with our current leadership than you are.

I may believe you a bit more

Zero offense intended; but I don’t think most people who are working tirelessly for independence are concerned about who/what you believe.

I don’t understand the typography you use here(?), but your statement is true. I don’t for one second believe fedgov will ever do anything about it.

Doubtful. In fact, they may get MORE! Our government LOVES, LOVES, LOVES sending taxpayer money to other countries.

Dissecting my post is being bent out of shape, especially when I support you but point out the issues you face and make note of how it continues to get worse and nothing is done.

In the short term. You're right but that's missing the point of the exercise imo. If Texas (et al) were to do this, and if they were to succeed at secession, it wouldn't be to HELP keep things the same way nationally/federally. It would be to force change in the direction of our country's future OR to totally separate, and let the chips fall where they may.

Continuing on the path we are on is not an option. Something must change.

It was easier to dissect your multiple statements than to cram everything into one long-winded, run-on sentence/paragraph

The very fact nothing is being done is why the movement is growing.

I feel you; I once felt the same.
I cannot sit by and watch anymore, so I’m doing something about it.
Whether Texas independence occurs in my lifetime remains to be seen; but it will eventually occur.
This isn’t a flash-in-the-pan effort—we aren’t going away.

The State that attempts to leave would immediately be flooded with foreign funding and arms. The World (by proxy) vs the United States. That's how hated our federal government is globally.

How would you describe your faith in our federal government today ?

To those who say ‘send in the military’ , we don’t nearly have enough Army soldiers to maintain control over a city such as Atlanta.
We bombed both Germany and Japan for months from the air and they did not surrender.
Would our Air Force bomb us daily for months on end? What would that do to tax collections?

I'm not sure.. but my Great Great Grandfather tried it.. The Feds shot him in the head, stole his livestock and burned his house town.

So good luck to you

Provocation of war by the empire on the separatist state and propagandized demonization of the separatists. This has happened before.
