This is dangerous. Sadly the sheep will come out and say the same old, “well, if you haven’t done anything wrong, you don’t have anything to worry about”. This is the thinking that takes down a nation.

I only regret that my state wasn’t deemed patriotic enough to rate a nazi field office.

They would be thrown out of congress. Learn Nazi history, because it's happening here now.

I'm sure John Bel will give them a good deal on some crony-owned office space. He's a loyal soldier for The Cause.

Just because I hate president biden because he’s a terrible president who stole the election doesn’t make me a radicalized terrorist

Jesus H. Christ. This kind of thing is why we should be teaching more history. LINK

quote:

In the mid '20s, the Weimar Republic did very well. Unemployment rate went down, the inflation rate went down. It seemed like Germans were going to be able to move forward with some relative stability and prosperity. And then came the stock market crash of 1929. And that was the beginning of the economic disaster.

What, in a calmer time, would have disqualified Hitler completely from being taken into the world of acceptability at this point gained and triggered support from segments of the population.

In 1930, they won 18% of the vote— 107 seats. And then, by July 1932 they were up to 37% of the vote.

quote:

But up until 1932, that's not what he talked about all the time. Indeed, in the last three years, between 1930 and 1933, when Hitler's vote was rising the fastest, the Nazis downplayed their antisemitic rhetoric. And their rhetoric was, what's wrong with this country is the system. The system is broken. The system doesn't know how to fix what's wrong with this country.

The highlighted part, does it sound familiar? Not long after Hermann Göring created the Gestapo by detaching the political and intelligence sections from the police and then filled their ranks with Nazi party members. At this time Göring was also successful in getting Hitler to extend the agency's authority throughout Germany. This represented a radical departure from German tradition, which held that law enforcement was (mostly) a Land (state) and local matter. Not long after that Himmler created the SS and Göring placed the Gestapo under Himmler's control. LINK

So what we have today mirrors a bit of what led to Nazi Germany in that we have a powerful politician (3rd in line for the Presidency) who is part of the party claiming "systemic" problems (ie: systemic racism) with our country is a great threat. That politician is now pushing for a national police force controlled directly by the Capitol Police Board.

Who makes up this board?

Retired Lt. General Karen H. Gibson - US Senate Sergeant-at-Arms

-Gibson served as the deputy Director of National Intelligence for national security partnerships, director of intelligence for United States Central Command, director of intelligence for the Combined Joint Task Force, and deputy commanding general for the United States Army Cyber Command. LINK and LINK. She also served on the Biden/Harris transition team.

Retired Major General William J. Walker - US House of Representatives Sergeant at Arms

-Walker's last position was as Commanding General, Land Component Command at the Joint Forces Headquarters in DC after being promoted to Major General by President Trump. LINK and LINK. Aside from his being appointed to the Sergeant at Arms by Nancy Pelosi (of which she made much ado about him being the first black person to hold the position), he seems to be apolitical as both his personal and professional foci seem to be defense-based (military and DEA service).

**Chair of the Board rotates between Gibson's and Walker's positions***

J. Brett Blanton (PE) - Architect of the Capitol

-Blanton is a decorated war veteran with a Bronze Star with a Combat V for service in Iraq. LINK and LINK. Blanton was nominated to the position by President Trump in 2019, was sworn in with a unanimous vote by the Senate in 2020 and his personal and professional foci seems to be apolitical with them being engineering and architecture.

Acting Chief of the US Capitol Police Dr. Yogananada Pittman

-While Pittman's LinkedIn is almost non-existent and her Wiki entry contains little more information, the final sentence was rather eyebrow-raising...

quote:

Following the resignation of Steven Sund in 2021, Pittman became acting chief of the Capitol Police. She is the first woman and first African American to serve as Chief of the Capitol Police. On February 15, 2021 the U.S. Capitol Police Labor Committee, the union representing Capitol Police officers, voted 92% against Pittman in a vote of no confidence in her leadership.

While we have two possibly non-political appointees we have one who was overwhelmingly rejected by the people she worked with after leading them for barely a month and another who is a career-long intel person with strong ties to the current administration.

I tend to avoid all Nazi comparisons because people infer you're alleging the events are of the same magnitude, but it's hard to deny the strategy/playbook similarities.

I’ve spent a lifetime studying history, a lot it studying German history. The parallels between early 1930s Germany and America today are truly terrifying.

How is this even in their jurisdiction? State Governors should put this down quickly.
