What Louisiana gets from the Budget deal

It’s good to have the speaker from our state
All tolled, we get 1.3 billion dollars over the next 8 months
Here’s where some goes
Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City got $7 million for defense research to improve B-52 capabilities and another $7 million to expand a medical facility.
• Team Gleason Foundation in New Orleans will get $6 million to purchase wheelchairs, breathing machines, talking computers and other expensive technology for persons with ALS, which restricts a person’s movements.
• The New Orleans-based nonprofit group Feed the Second Line’s “Get Lit, Stay Lit” will receive $3.7 million to install solar and battery backup systems to more than 300 restaurants.
Southern University will get $2.1 million to purchase equipment for its legal education curricula and another $365,000 for its technology classes.
• LSU gets $3 million for its facilities and another $4 million to research hydrogen as a fuel.
• The town of Livingston gets $720,000 to improve the drinking water system and another $800,000 to renovate the Livingston Parish Courthouse.
• Lafayette was appropriated $5 million to replace water lines and $7 million for a taxiway realignment at Lafayette Regional Airport.
• Jefferson Davis Parish will get $2.8 million for drinking water improvements.
The bill passed Saturday allows the Pentagon to start building ships and next-generation fighter jets along with weapons systems, such as the ship-to-shore hovercraft to be built by New Orleans Textron Systems, mostly at its facilities in Slidell. Service members will receive a long-promised 5.2% pay raise.
The legislation also allots $4 billion for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, on which many low income Louisiana residents rely to help lower utility costs.

Would love to learn about this.

As much as we disdain earmarks and pork in these government bills, its good to have spending sent back to the state. Louisiana has had horrible representation (in that regard) for a long time.
However, this doesn't mean I approve of this crap. Cut spending, cut regulation, cut the size of government, and pass single appropriation/relief bills when necessary.

Well, that's a good investment. We need more black lawyers to go after Trump for his dastardly deeds.

Not one of those dollars will ever go towards what they are committed to.

There might be more whites at Southern Law school than blacks.

Louisiana collects taxes. They should pay for their own non Interstate roads, just like every state should. It's not the Federal government's job to do road maintenance on non Federal roads.
Other than the Barksdale money, nothing you listed out is the job of the Federal government, per the Constitution. But just keep clapping for more spending when you "get yours."

Louisiana highways suck arse
In BR on Saturday morning, traffic was backed up and the sign said "RIGTT LANE CLOSED" (yes, it was misspelled), so everyone merged in the left lane. Turns out, the LEFT lane was closed and everyone had to get back in the right lane.

I had to send a replacement PC part to a lady that worked for the Louisiana Department of Education. She sounded early 40s.
She spelled the address of the street her office was on by saying, "K as in cat." So how surprised are you at OP?

so we get nothing. More waste.

Have you seen Southern's law enrollment, isn't it pretty much a mix of poor white kids, LSU Law rejects, and a few African American students that couldn't make the cut to Tulane or Loyola Law affirmitive action programs and scholarships.
