I’m more than happy to keep the definition consistent with the one from macro economics class.
But yes, I think elites are involved in the nameless happenings that I’m referring to.

I got you covered, but you don't have to say it out loud. NO worries

Globalism is not mere trade or diplomacy; it is an ideological assault on national sovereignty. It is the systematic transfer of lawmaking, economic control, and political power away from accountable, elected national governments and into the hands of unelected international bodies and multinational elites.
The globalist operates as a rootless technocrat who views traditional borders, distinct cultures, and citizen loyalty as inconvenient barriers to a homogenized, borderless economic zone. It subordinates the prosperity, security, and democratic self-determination of the local citizenry to the interests of transnational corporations and distant bureaucrats who bear none of the consequences of their policies.

Would you agree that abducting a country's leader or bombing it is an assault on their sovereignty?

Sure, what’s your point?

Desire for the weakening or elimination of sovereign borders
The people that desire this the most are the tech oligarchs who are in very close with Trump 2.0

Unfettered migration.
Agreed there

Placing international "interests" ahead of national interests.
Right. Like fighting expensive wars on behalf of Israel and the Saudis.

Climate change bullshite.
Doesn't really have anything to do with globalism IMO. But to the extent that it might climate disasters would lead to mass migration events so ignoring the climate is a good way to ensure that one of the things you don't want to happen actually happens.

A decent portion of this board has somehow twisted foreign intervention in Venezuela and Iran into some wild theory that it is opposing globalism. It's why SFP started this thread. This board 100% gets it when we meddle in eastern Europe -- that it's basically a neocon or globalist push to break up countries like Ukraine and Russia and take resources.
My position is that what we're doing now is essentially the same thing. I highly doubt the protests in Iran were organic. Nearly everyone here understands we probably ignited a coup in Ukraine in 2014 (this is one of the only things I disagree with SFP about, by the way) and nearly everyone here understands that we actually did run a coup in Iran in 1953.

I think they don't see old-school colonialism as globalism. If you can successfully run a resource-extracting puppet government that you pretty nakedly control, then it represents the people (more or less).

That's been an interesting angle for the people who think the Venezuela op was a success. Have we really freed the people when a hardline Chavista government is still running things with a gun to their heads?

What is your personal definition of "globalism" ?
Weighting international impact much more heavily than domestic impact on every domestic and international decision.

If they can define American control as freeing them, they can make that work.

How about you give yours first? Or clearly state that there is no such thing?
Your post is designed to make others offer an opinion, that you will then use to tell them how wrong and uninformed they are. This allows you to place yourself into a position of superiority - which is really a dbag move.

Bad is everywhere, especially when you are weak. I just hope and pray my baddies are the baddest of them all and are able to create good by removing the weaker baddies.

Only if said country's elected said leader fairly.

Is that why Biden opened the borders and let in 10 million plus illegals? Because Trump's buddies wanted him too?

Clearly you did not read OP. The first paragraph:
quote:
"globalism" often acts less like a fixed definition and more like an umbrella label whose meaning is supplied by the surrounding story/argument. The term can be used for an established policy-oriented usage and a conspiratorial usage centered on a purported hidden cabal. It's completely malleable and shifts with the speaker and conversation to create the perception of a boogeyman. In many cases I've seen the kernel of truth fallacy used for irrational extrapolation.
