Government has more important things to do with its time...

If folks want to kill themselves, I say let them... Free country and all...

Ban it.
I think we Americans put a lot more food on a plate than Europeans do.

I've watched enough European TV programming to observe there are some fatties over there also.

Ban Canola and Soybean oil too. That stuff is in more food than HFCS and worse for your health.

I don’t drink sodas, but I’m not sure it’s the government’s job to nanny us. What I am sure of is that I do not like the government using my tax dollars to subsidize the crops used to produce HFCS or allowing the use of EBT cards to purchase products with HFCS or to use my tax dollars to treat the ailments caused by HFCS through Medicaid.

I have evolved on these type issues. Before I was a get the government out of people’s business, but when I look around and see all the fatties, and the additional costs for healthcare that I am subsidizing as a business owner and also through Medicare and Medicaid, yea, it pisses me off.

IMO we should not be pushing HFCS in everything. We subsidize this corn industry and they have to be in everything.

I don't agree on this particular issue but I get that, and it's a point I make to libertarians all the time. They'll take a pet issue and look at it in a vacuum, ignoring the fact that we're not libertarian when it comes to the effects of that pet issue.

Exactly.

"Save us daddy government"

Daddy Govt smiles..

Factors contributing to the rise of HFCS include production quotas of domestic sugar, import tariffs on foreign sugar, and subsidies of U.S. corn, raising the price of sucrose and lowering that of HFCS, making it cheapest for many sweetener applications

Because you have to look at what causes the issue as well as the results.

Why would government ban an item they've been pushing on us with policy for years? Just end the policies. No banning needed.

I’ve been in Europe for 2 weeks now and the ratio of fit:fat is much higher than in USA. I hardly see anyone morbidly obese and don’t think I have yet. I’ve had cokes, Powerade, and other drinks to compare to the ones back home and they taste just as good if not better/cleaner with sometimes less than HALF the daily sugar compared to American versions that use high fructose corn syrup.
thats only part of it.... European cities are the size of big neigherhoods here and not may people have cars. So you walk every where... Walk to the train station, walk to work... here we walk 20 steps to the car in the drive way, then the 2 min walk from the car to your desk.

I'm an anti-Corporatist, Marjorie. I say cut ALL their subsidies including the INSANELY shitty ones that go to the Corn farmers who make shitty HFCS. My sin is believing FREE men can make their own choices free of State dictate. I believe RISK is the flip side of FREEDOM and to have one you must have the other. But you go full Soviet and enjoy having some pointy-headed bureaucrat from The State tell you what you can and cannot eat. In fact, just tell me the unhealthy foods you enjoy, and I'll just shoot you over a personal dictate admonishing you so you can enjoy the feeling of being dominated by other men that you
so obviously enjoy, Cucktard.

I have a knee-jerk reaction against the government banning anything.

This is 100% true. But it’s much worse than that.

He thinks he should have the authority to force those decisions on others as well. Your point makes him pathetic. The latter point makes him a piece of shite.

We need fewer laws, not more.

Just get rid of laws that subsidize things that are harmful to society.

I mean, if sugar is bad for you, certainly alcohol is. Red meat will 100% be on the no go list.

Being willing to justify government control over what we eat based on the existence of other government powers that shouldn’t exist is the height of stupidity.

It is the amount of food they eat that makes them less fat over there. It isn't banning HFC.

Uh what. Honey is one of the best natural products on the planet.
