Third Rail in politics means topics like modifying Social Security or Medicare are considered the "third rail"—"touch it and your career dies".

What would you consider the Third Rail of Louisiana Politics if someone is trying to run for Governor?

Democrat: Anti-Gun
Republican: Reversing Medicaid Expansion

State government no longer subsidizing local wants like ballparks, and definitely no longer local needs like politics.

Raising the standards to qualify for TOPS, despite the program going under.

Encouraging the talking point that every high school grad ain’t cut out for a 4 year university. You’re not allowed to “insult” people like that in Louisiana, even though trade school or at least starting out at a community college would be better for them.

Homestead exemption raised to the inflation adjusted amount now from the $75,000 value in 1980.

In other words, just a little over $300,000.

Addressing the number of 4-year state colleges in this state. It’s beyond ridiculous.

Tort & Insurance Reform.

Not from the aspect of the voters. Rather, from the aspects of the undue influence of PI lawyers, and the money that they send to legislators and the money they spend in elections.

Not an issue in Calcasieu Parish per my wife's uncle is a retired general legal counsel for Westlake Group. Major with local politicians in Ascension Parish. Never was an issue state legislators. In fact, Ascension worse than China.
