What having a mid 20s employee is teaching me about that generation

About a year ago I hired a 25 year old in my office. It was her second job and she was excited about the pay raise and the opportunity. She does good work but is generally difficult to be around.

She has three roommates, two of which are lesbian partners and the other one is male. There is always roommate drama.

Her car broke down and she had about a $1000 repair bill. She had no way to take care of it so she Ubered to work for a week before her dad sent her money.

I took my youngest daughter on a college visit to Ole Miss and was talking about it to several in the office. Mentioned she was more interested in the sorority houses than anything else She openly said “You are one of those people” I asked what kind of people. “Rich dads that spoil their daughters and pay for everything”

She turned 26 recently and had a crisis because she is now off her parents insurance. I helped her navigate through our very generous health insurance that will cost her about $100 a month and she blamed Trump.

On July 1, the student loan payment requirements changed and her student loan payment is going up. Again she blamed Trump and has been difficult ever since. Another employee ( in his 40s) said “we all had to pay back our student loans” and she started crying.

Zero personal responsibility. Everything negative that happens to her isn’t life, it’s someone else’s fault. Show any sort of success and it’s evil. It’s easy to say parents are to blame but it’s a real issue when you spend some time around this group.

You are spot on. Unfortunately this generation will be seduced by socialism.

She probably doesn’t even have the mental capacity to expound on how any of it is Trumps fault. My 20yr old daughter is the same way. She’ll spew some bullshite about either Trump or life in general with such confidence but when I ask her to explain herself she just laughs and says “look it up”. Freaks out about everything. They act like life just started 3yrs ago and we don’t know anything.

And yes, not only will she be a Wife who votes for Socialism, she will be one of its most vocal and outspoken advocates for Socialism in America - probably be a Social Media Influencer.

ALSO, she may have a future in politics, too. Lots of new Mayors in America are just like her. She could get elected Mayor of your nearest big city, if she is a Democrat (which we know she is).

Do you think it's wise to share your own personal family information with your employees? What good could come of informing them of your daughter's interest in SEC College Sorority Life?

I also thought that is where he was going to go with that part of the story.

I guess the irony went over her head?

Girls like that are brainwashed to spend their early adulthood in other pursuits. And guys are starting to wise up about getting involved with this type.

I think people of all generations kinda suck, they just suck in different ways. The young, entitled Gen Z’er that whines about everything is insufferable. The old boomer that finds every excuse in the book to bitch about their wives and remind everyone younger than them to “just wait, it’s coming for you too” whether they asked for marriage advice or not are also insufferable.

People just suck for the most part. The key is finding the good ones to build a life with.

That's why you don't hire women, of any age.

They already have been. They grew up with participation trophies, no competition, and that everyone’s a winner. They’ve been taught the evils of capitalism in school.

A 21 year old at work hates rich people and thinks that we can cure all of our woes if their money is confiscated and redistributed amongst the rest of the country.

They don’t want to work. They don’t want to save for anything. They want the big house, the new car, the best toys, right out of the gate, but they want the government to pay for it all- if they have to give up their freedoms for it, that’s a trade they’re willing to make.

Meh, maybe you just made a bad hire. It could be a function of where I live but I know plenty of twenty somethings who are nothing like this.

That is this generation in a nutshell. When they fall off their parents' insurance, they fall off a cliff mentally, it's amazing to hear the mental gyrations of how unfair it is that they have to pay their own insurance.

You should fired her on the spot for this statement, I couldn’t imagine making this statement to my boss.

Did you tell her that Trump made it possible for these entitled idiots to not have to pay literally any kind of loan during Covid? That stupid decision is made emboldened these brats to think they shouldn’t ever have to pay anyone back or pay for anything at all period.
