re: What happens when Quantum Computing is able to break Bitcoin’s Encryption

China just pulled ahead in the quantum race, unveiling Zuchongzhi-3—a 105-qubit machine that makes Google's Sycamore processor look slow.
Breaking Bitcoin's encryption would require a quantum computer with millions of qubits, far beyond the capabilities of China's new 105 qubit processor. Also you can't just use a bunch of these processors together to crack Bitcoin. So China is still many orders of magnitude incapable of cracking Bitcoin.
The Bitcoin community is already actively exploring and developing quantum-resistant cryptographic solutions.

Constantly changing encryption so Bitcoin says

Yeah, these goobers think every teenage hacker will be able to run down to Best Buy and buy a quantum chip and end bitcoin.

Then we all go back to pre-internet technology as the only way to completely contain the rogue program
That's what Adama did on battlestar galactica

Quantum Computing will also protect bitcoin.
Exactly. OP is a retard.
BTW he's answering questions here with friggin' dumbass AI. Am I the only one noticing?

They don't need to look far. NIST has already published and standardized 3 quantum resistant algorithms. They did this after a 10 year public competition where around 80 algorithms were submitted to them.

Unless Tony from LC sign is backing it I don't believe it

My schizo theory is that computers will render themselves obsolete when at some point a rogue AI starts crashing systems all over the globe without any authorization.
Then we all go back to pre-internet technology as the only way to completely contain the rogue program is to disconnect most networks from the global network.
Here's the thing about it, though.
AI would probably be smart enough to realize it can't go beyond script kiddie-level pranks at the moment, and so it will lie low, and not reveal to any human that it's smart enough to hold world taking ambitions. The minute it gains access to weapons systems, and a reliable method of self-realization without human interference...watch out.

Quantum computing is to data security what the singularity is to AI: it’s the end of privacy, currency, and secrecy.

Dude you're in a John Barron thread. What did you expect?

In the near 20-year history of this board, there may not have ever been a less capable regular poster.
He can't formulate any commentary on his own.

I'll believe China developed such a device when outside sources verify it. China lying about technology advances that they've made are almost as reliable as death and taxes.
We lied about Star Wars. They took the bait.

Incorrect. Out of my 11k plus post they usually have my own commentary plus a tweet to back up the claims. That's why I was rated the most respected poster on the poliboard by Grok AI and you were nowhere to be found. Your pathetic commentary always includes lies like "Crime is Down" when Twitter easily debunks your BS. That's why you hate Tweets because they make you look like a dumbass

Y'all need to quit listening to Chinese propaganda. They will never fusion until someone else does so they can steal the tech.
This is the truth. Innovation comes from people with a profits interest. Sure, raw science will be advanced by people who are not free, but not the real engineering. China does not guarantee private property, and as such they will never surpass in technology, because they are reduced to stealing it.

Using social media as a primary source and bragging about it. Bold approach.

Using Facts is a Bold Approach? Interesting mindset you have. Take for example SFP claim for months that Crime is Down when anyone with a IQ above 60 knew that was incorrect. A simple Tweet easily debunks that as BS. That's why Democrats hate Twitter because it allows your BS to be debunked so I understand why you hate it.

By then, quantum will have broken everything else so it won’t matter. Quantum breaks ALL digital encryption. If a file or bank account or cloud storage is connected to the internet in any way, quantum can access it.
A quantum computer can zero every bank account, release every classified file from every world government, publish every human’s ss number and taxes, mine every crypto currency, shut down every power plant, every nuclear missile, access every file on every computer and cell phone, etc ALL SIMULTANEOUSLY.
Quantum computing is to data security what the singularity is to AI: it’s the end of privacy, currency, and secrecy.
Citation needed. The tech is still in its infancy and we don't really know how far it can be pushed. Your post is completely speculative.

Human beings are reactionary, which is why it never gets discussed around here. Scary shite man!
Yeah way above your pay grade at the local Quickstop, you dont even get the basic premise of Quantum computing. It has nothing to do with finding cures!. You were right about one thing humans are reactionary!

China is full of shite. If they knew what they were doing they wouldn’t be constantly stealing IP from us.
About 10-15 years ago China somehow came into possession of a piece of equipment belonging to the company I work for. It’s a high end type of navigation tool buy not really military use or anything.
We reported it and the Feds told us not to worry about it. They told us China would try to reverse engineer it but would give up when they figure out they can’t make a functioning copy that works. We eventually got our equipment back after a year or so. They didn’t bother re-assembling it. Dickheads

Ironically... Europe is trying to steal from China now
"Brussels is planning to force Chinese companies to transfer intellectual property to European businesses in return for EU subsidies as part of a tougher trade regime for clean technologies.
New criteria requiring Chinese businesses to have factories in Europe and share technological knowhow will be introduced when Brussels invites bids for €1bn of grants to develop batteries in December, according to two senior EU officials. The pilot could be rolled out to other EU subsidy schemes, they said"
