I would argue that is their prerogative as a business

I am assuming he had insurance and they were forced to cover
Do I not understand the situation?

You think this statement does not mean Obamacare?
That's fine. I disagree though.
To me, it's clearly about Obamacare.

Helpful to have a non-abstract case that fits it perfectly.

If he didn't have it, should an insurance company now be allowed to deny him coverage? if so, for how long? The rest of his life?

quote:No. I don't. Trump's had proposed covering preexisting conditions too. Besides they explicitly mention research funding, so if they wanted to mention Obamacare they could have.

Regardless, access to healthcare is not completely synonymous with insurance either.

“If your baby is going to die and it doesn’t have to it shouldn’t matter how much money you make,” he said.
Where is this actually taking place? I have two young children. Was at the hospital for both births and I guarantee there were people there at the same time who were uninsured but still having a baby. The funny thing is they received the EXACT same level of great care that my wife and child received. I doubt anyone's child was in danger of dying simply because their parent may have been poor. The better question was: "why the frick did I cut a large check immediately upon arrival at the hospital if I could have gotten the same level of care for 'free'"?
quote:
“No parent should ever have to decide if they can afford to save their child’s life,”
If you child is in need of emergency health care, any parent in the country can take them to the ER where they will receive world class care immediately. This even applies to parents who are not even legally in this country.

Kimmel's monologue about his son was actually pretty genuine and correct. It wasn't overly political, it wasn't propaganda.

Regardless of where that kid was born and to who, he would have gotten the surgery. (In the U.S.)
It's a ridiculous action to politicize the health issue of your child.
Had that happened to my child, bitching about Trump, or Hillary or any other politician would be the furthest thing from my mind.
Nothing any politician has done or not done had any affect on that child's health or healthcare.

If? I thought this was the perfect example for your bleeding heart argument?
Would you trade Obamacare repealed and tweaked for voter ID cards and tighter immigration laws?

Sure, go ahead and link all the children dying in the streets because their parents were denied health insurance.

I had to dodge piles of dead children around the emergency room last week. You don't have that wherever you moved?

I think his point is that you shouldn't have to go bankrupt to get the necessary care for your child.
Ok, the child will get the surgery, but the parents will also get a bill that they will be paying off forever.
He is also made a point about the need for medical research funding, which has nothing to do with O-care.
